Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms. If anyone speaks, they should do so as one who speaks the very words of God. If anyone serves, they should do so with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ. To him be the glory and the power for ever and ever. Amen.

You have a unique gift that was given by God to serve others and make them more like Jesus. How can you know what gift you have? One way is to observe what irritates you. What may be easy for you may not be easy for others, and the irritation that you feel is a clue toward a skill that glorifies God. So don’t fall into criticism; use your gift as a faithful steward of God’s grace and bless those around you.

Hebrews 3:4-6
4 For every house is builded by some man; but he that built all things is God.
5 And Moses verily was faithful in all his house, as a servant, for a testimony of those things which were to be spoken after;
6 But Christ as a son over his own house; whose house are we, if we hold fast the confidence and the rejoicing of the hope firm unto the end.

Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be courageous; be strong. Do everything in love.
– 1 Corinthians 16:13-14

We must be watchful if we expect to live the way that God intends for us. But having our eyes wide open and our beliefs clearly defined are not enough, for many people have been deeply hurt by the wounds of watchful, doctrinally correct Christians. Our motive ultimately has to be love, which acknowledges where people are in their journey while lifting up who Jesus is in His splendor. As we create this atmosphere, people feel safe to wrestle with the gospel and—as a result—are transformed.

James 5:16
16 Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.

Galatians 5:22-23
22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.

1st Peter 1:17-25
17 And if ye call on the Father, who without respect of persons judgeth according to every man's work, pass the time of your sojourning here in fear:
18 Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers;
19 But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:
20 Who verily was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you,
21 Who by him do believe in God, that raised him up from the dead, and gave him glory; that your faith and hope might be in God.
22 Seeing ye have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit unto unfeigned love of the brethren, see that ye love one another with a pure heart fervently:
23 Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.
24 For all flesh is as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of grass. The grass withereth, and the flower thereof falleth away:
25 But the word of the Lord endureth for ever. And this is the word which by the gospel is preached unto you.

Faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see. ... By faith we understand that the universe was formed at God's command, so that what is seen was not made out of what was visible.

Then Jesus said to his host, “When you give a luncheon or dinner, do not invite your friends, your brothers or sisters, your relatives, or your rich neighbors; if you do, they may invite you back and so you will be repaid. But when you give a banquet, invite the poor, the crippled, the lame, the blind, and you will be blessed. Although they cannot repay you, you will be repaid at the resurrection of the righteous.”
– Luke 14:12-14

This is a counter culture statement to our transactional age. We often base our relationships upon how people can help us go forward in a career or endeavor, but Jesus challenges us to reach out to those who can’t do a thing for our personal advancement. What would happen if we took the time and resources to bless those couldn’t repay us? The world might be a different place. It certainly will be a different place for those we bless.
