eMo's Ultimate Gold/Magic Finder Barbarian Guide 22.3.2010

Why Gold Find Barbarian?

Gold Find Barbarian is the best way to get started. This character is really cheap to get and earns alot of gold, which leads to alot of gamble, which leads to alot of items to sell. So its a great way to earn enough money to get stronger characters for later.
If you are just starting to play Diablo 2. I suggest to start with this character. The idea of this guide is a clvl 99 Barbarian, who gambles all his money for good items.

----
1.Stats

As everyone knows. Barbarian starts with this stats:

Strenght: 30
Dexterity: 20
Vitality: 25
Energy: 10

Hit Points: 55
Stamina: 92
Mana: 10

Each level gives barbarians:
Life +2
Stamina +1
Mana +1

And one vitality point gives:
Life +4
Stamina +1

Now its important to know if you have alot of money. If you don't know how much is alot, then you should go straight to 'Cheap option'.

Rich option

Strenght: 83
Dexterity: 20
Vitality: 477
Energy: 10

At clvl 99 you will have [ Base HP + 2 HP per lvl * 89 lvl ups + 4 HP per vitality * 452 vitality + Items + Battle Orders = 55 + 178 + 1808 + 200 + 104% ] 4571+ HP

Cheap option (this option means, that you dont have any +str boosts. This include annihilus, torch etc.)

Strenght: 103
Dexterity: 20
Vitality: 457
Energy: 10

At clvl 99 you will have [ Base HP + 2 HP per lvl * 89 lvl ups + 4 HP per vitality * 432 vitality + Items + Battle Orders = 55 + 178 + 1728 + 120 + 104% ] 4245+ HP

I don't get the average/ expensive/ cheap stuff. You basically list one item with different variables and label it "expensive" or "really expensive". Its not like, for example: 2 barb/ xxx gold find/ 2 sockets compared to a CoT

The idea of them is to show how cheap is this character. I am not comparing them.

Eth Tr is not a good choice of weapon due to animate as return, best to use botd eth wp + eth coh.

first off, 2x lem'd crystal swords (6 sox  ) = 900gf, and they're cheap plus common.
then immortal kings helm (lem'd) is better imo
also rare 80 gf boots > infernos imo
merc bonehew --> has 2 sox, and it's pretty easy for him to clean nightmare, while in hell you get the same results plus hell takes longer
eth wealth is the best option imo
eth cot > all
also you didin't really mention what charms you should have in inventory, so i'll add this.
you should have 9x 40 gf grand charms (you could have a look for the with nice adds, but it's unnecessary, and expensive), gheeds try getting is as close to 160/15 as possible, 10x 10gf small charms.
also you should try to get an upgraded (because non up'd has 12 potion slots) 80 gf gold wrap (cheap, really ;D). also you should get an edge runeword (it's a missile weapon that gives -15% (?) to vendor prices.)
anni is not really necessary nor torch, if you're only gold finding.
i used this build to get the info ^^ http://forums.d2jsp.org/topic.php?t=6455664 , not advertising or anything. :D

You seem to have changed it to obedience, that weapon adds cold dmg so probably shatters corpses.

Insight would be a good cheap option.

I would prefer insight as a last choise. Hone Sundan and Steel Pillar for example are much better then Insight.

was that the first thing you noticed?? i facepalmed at these lol..

Leap
Very useful skill. And costs only 2 mana.
Skill Points: 20

20 in leap means that you have a higher knockback radius (your entire screen and a little off it too).. This means, in a couple of leaps, you'll end up spreading the council all over the council chamber and hence delaying the runs.. 1 pt in leap is sufficient and optimal imo..

Quote (eMoKitty @ Mar 21 2010 11:04pm)

Gold Find / Magic Find charms (Avarage)

You didn't list Warcry Goldfind Grand Charms or Goldfind/All Resist Small Charms as an expensive option

Quote (eMoKitty @ Mar 21 2010 11:04pm)

Helm:
Crown of Thieves, 150GF (Lem) (Cheap) 80-99GF (Really Cheap) 310GF/40MF

You didn't list Artisan's/Jeweler's Tiara/Diadem of Wealth as an expensive option. IK helm is the optimal helm for a GF/MF hybrid, since you only lose 13 GF but gain up to 40 MF.

Quote (eMoKitty @ Mar 21 2010 11:04pm)

Boots:
Infernostride, 70GF (Cheap) 40-69GF (Really Cheap) 960GF/210MF

Rare boots can get up to 80 Goldfind AND have MF too on them (25 i think, not sure). Those are ideal. 30 FRW 80 GF 25 MF boots with 40 Fire res, 40 Cold Res, 40 Light Res would be ideal.

Quote (eMoKitty @ Mar 21 2010 11:04pm)

Weapons:
2x 5Lem on Mace/Axe 2x375GF = 750GF (Really Expansive) 1990GF/210MF
2x 2Lem Blade of Ali Baba 2x247GF/2x99MF = 494FG/188MF (Avarage)

Why 5 socketed items with 5 lems, when you can use 6 socketed swords with 6 lems?

Quote (eMoKitty @ Mar 21 2010 11:04pm)

4.Merc
Weapon:
Eth Obedience (HelKoThulEthFal) (Avarage)

There are far better choices than an Obedience (Obedience has an obvious disadvantage that it adds cold damage which might make corpses melt down making them unavailable for horking). Eth Botd War Pike deals insane damage and would be great.

Quote (eMoKitty @ Mar 21 2010 11:04pm)

5.Strategy
2.When you come to waypoint, just run or leap straight to temple and go downstairs to Durance of Hate level 1.
3.Hit F1, right click, F2, right click, F3, right click. Check that you have F5 chosen. Now go upstairs, hit Shift and Leap next to Counsil Members. Hit F4 and do War Cry to stun them. Hold down shift and left mouse button to leap all over the place. Let the merc kill them all and do once in a while War Cry. When everyone is killed, hit F8 and Find Item to every body that there is.

BOing at travincal waypoint is much safer and quicker rather than wasting time to do to Durance level 1 and BOing.

Apart from these, I don't see any obvious errors. ^_^

IMHO this guide is full of fail.

Missing loads of info, chose various wrong items... and the list goes on.

Shoulda spent less time putting nice colors in and classifying the items, and more time doing research!

nice try...
