rogue cuz WAYYY too many rets tbh, unless ur ret pally is already geared for current content or in a guild already, in which case ive played both and find ret more fun, but rogues are higher dps generally with equal gear/skill just cuz

You kidding? There's rarely any ret paly's in PvE. And Ret paly in 3's (geared) is gg. Mm hunter / ret - healer - or Warrior + ret / heal etc..

Ret paladins are easier to play, but harder to play well.

yupp. any moron can push your main buttons and put out mad damage but not many know what blessing of protection is from the looks of it. i've been iso a good ret pally for 3s for the longest time and I can't find a single one that is actually any good defensively.

play your rogue, good old subtlety is getting buffed while paladins are gimp atm and the devs refuse to address them

If you can use modifiers well and know your teamates you are going to do well.

I once DI'd someone on Heroic Anub25 instead of BoPing them.

Also, there are indeed too many Rets. I'll go ahead and make up a statistic here. I'm going to say that 90%~ of them, have no idea how to play.
I saw 3 Rets in a pug ICC25 last week with Deathbringer's Will. The 3rd one actually won it during the raid, even though I informed him, that it was about a 20-30 DPS upgrade over Greatness.
He told me I was an idiot and knew nothing, because it procc'd 600 strength.
Needless to say, he was below top 10 on Festergut.

The point is. Fuck off if you plan on playing Ret and not doing a little research for yourself.

Ret is far from broken, it just isn't as strong as it was at one point, and rightfully so.
Roll a Rogue or you fail.
