This is really nice! I still don't know a lot about this particular style of glitchy psy music, but I am liking more and more of it that I hear. It reminds me of Tipper. One thing I noticed about the dance floor is that it seems more laid back than something like a trance dance floor, but not in a way that anybody is enjoying it less. It seems like it's more of a cerebral experience, which I think is a pretty interesting and cool statement about the evolution of music and the effect of technology on it. Synthesizers have so much potential to be taken to so many different places, and it's exciting to watch where synth-based music is being taken.
Yeah glitch hop is imho where the psychedelic scene is at now. That and psybreaks. I love psytrance/Goa and always will (bumpin astral projection right now even) but I love it for the classics and not so much the newer stuff. I've found some new psytrance I dig, but too much of it sounds the same to me. I really enjoyed 2009's
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SxZVMua7loQ but even that's not that recent. 2009 was a great year for neopsytrance. I find myself frustrated with most of the new stuff, and frustrated with older artists for not putting out anything new (or anything new worth listening to). Like where the fuck is Derango's 2nd album? It's been TEN YEARS! What in god's green earth is infected mushroom doing?! Holy jesus deliver me from IM's new material, what garbage that is... I don't mind that they stopped making psyTRANCE, I mind that they stopped making psychedelic music at all. The stuff they make now is literally produced for the crowds at EDC (I.e. coked up bros/brohoes). It's just a sad state of affairs for psytrance right now, I'm not sure if the scene will recover, somebody fresh needs to step up and sprinkle some sexiness on the scene.
