Well, read up on:

Mikhail Bakunin
Jean-Pierre Proudhon
Emma Goldman
Ayn Rand
Max Stirner
Leo Tolstoy
Karl Marx
Friedrich Engels
Friedrich Hegel (influenced Marx significantly, VERY difficult to understand on your own)
Jeremy Bentham
John Stuart Mill
Soren Kierkegaard
Edmund Husserl
Friedrich Nietzsche
Albert Camus
Plato and Aristotle (I almost listed Socrates, lol)
John Locke
Thomas Hobbes
David Hume

For a broad scope of anarchy, utilitarianism, existentialism, empiricism, and general philosophy.

Good choices imo.

I'd have to recommend reading Descartes' Meditations, which are available on the internet for free due to oldness. One of the major cornerstones of modern philosophy.

h

oh

Guns, Germs and Steel. One of the best books for understanding the current shape of the modern world.

why?

I was actually going to recommend The Stranger by Camus.

maybe a little bit of Kafka, at least Metamorphosis.

perhaps a sprinkling of Voltaire.
