Since this is a frictionless problem, the velocity of the skier going down a hill and losing 10 meters of elevation, will be the same as if he fell off a 10 meter high tower (it will just take him longer to reach this velocity, because of the incline of the hill, but time is not part of the problem).

VelocitySquared = VelocityInitialSquared + 2 * acceleration * (PositionFinal - PositionInitial)

VelocityInital = 4 m/s
PositionFinal = 0
PositionInitial =10
acceleration = -9.8 m/s

V^2 = 4^2 + 2 * (-9.8) * (0 - 10)
V^2 = 16 + 2 * (-9.8) * (-10)
V^2 = 212
V = 14.560 m/s (rounds to 15 m/s)

it's not homework. its me needing to understand the work.
