Allegri rotated quite freely from a 3-5-2 to a 4-2-3-1 to a 3-4-1-2 (yesterday's preferred starting 11). Our peak was the Barcelona tie for sure. We have no depth up top when we play all 3 of Mandzukic, Higuain and Dybala. The only quality player to take some minutes off of them was Pjaca, a promising 21 year old who tore his ACL around Feb-March. After that, our next attacker was Moise Kean (he's 17 years old).
In the end, we suffered in the midfield in my opinion. Pjanic and Khedira are great but against a midfield 3 like Modric, Kroos and Casemiro and with Isco on the field too, it was always going to be tough.
We have great players, and a great manager but I'm curious to see how we respond. The spirit was very shocking last night.
yep, the midfield overload real created in the second half killed you guys
and i think you tried too much passing at the back when real pressuring, you created a lot of trouble yourselves there
but who knows if an extra midfielder could have done anything, the entire team was not compact anymore
huge spaces between the lines and no support for the strikers
