Section II. What is Aion?

What is Aion?
Aion is a massively multiplayer online role-playing game released by NCsoft, a major Korean game developer. Aion was known as "Aion: The Tower of Eternity but it was released in North America under the one-word title of Aion. The game combines PvP and PvE in a fantasy game environment.
Things to Keep in Mind
    • Aion is P2P (Pay to Play)
    • 15 USD Monthly (USA)
    • 12 EUROS Monthly (Europe)
Section III. The Story

Plot
"In the beginning, the god of Atreia, Aion, benevolently watched over his world. He created the humans, and the Draken to safeguard and watch over them. Eventually, the Draken became obsessed with power and subjugation. They attacked and destroyed anything that would not yield to them, and they began to set their sights on humans. As they grew stronger, a set species emerged from them, calling themselves the Balaur. Five of the Balaur rose to a height of strength above the rest, and became known as the five Dragon Lords. When Aion refused to grant them the power they desired, the power to rival his own, they revolted and declared war on the god that created them. Aion's hand was forced, and he created the twelve Empyrean Lords, beings of divinity and power to protect the Tower of Eternity, the center of the world and the source of Aion's power and all Aether in the world. The Empyrean lords formed a barrier that made the land around the tower a safe haven, and people began to populate it and create a civilization.

Some humans, living within the safety of the barrier, learned how to harness some of the same energy as the Empyrean Lords, the aether. Such humans were called Daeva and, like the Empyrean Lords, had wings and the ability to fight the Balaur. With time, enough Daevas were born to form an army. The Empyrean Lords would lead the Daeva into battle and fight ceaselessly, this "Millenium War" as it was called would last for centuries. Eventually Israphel, one of the Empyrean Lords and also one of the two designated Tower Guardians, suggested peace. Ariel agreed, suggesting that if Israphel could overcome his hatred for the Balaur, they all could. Five of the Empyrean Lords, led by Azphel, vehemently disagreed. They considered peace foolish and a sacrilege to the honored dead. However, the second guardian of the tower, Siel, was swayed to peace and her decision sealed the argument. The five Dragon Lords were invited inside the barrier for peace talks. Azphel couldn't contain his rage. He attacked one of the Dragon Lords with all his fury, and it was then when the Balaur charged the tower. The two Guardians of the Tower, Israphel and Siel, frantically moved to opposite ends of the tower, alongside the other Empyrean Lords and Daevas. With Israphel to the south and Siel to the North, they sacrificed their life energy to ensure the Aether within the broken tower would not dissipate and allow the ends of the world to separate into space. Of the original twelve, ten of the Empyrean Lords survived. Five who had opposed peace and claimed that the weakness of the rest of the lords had allowed the Balaur to attack them reigned over the dark part of the world, becoming known as the Shedim Lords. The other five reigned over the light-covered bottom part of Atreia and claim that it was the Shedim Lords' actions that caused the breaking of the tower. They are known as the Seraphim Lords.

The new shape of the world also reshaped its inhabitants. Those that lived in the light part of the world saw little change except for an increase in their beauty. These followers of the Seraphim Lords called themselves Elyos and created the city of Sanctum. The inhabitants of the upper part of the world saw many changes. Having to walk on ground strewn with fragments of the tower, their feet became talons. Having to fight against beasts, their hands became claw-like. Furthermore, the darkness made their complexion change and their eyes grew red adapting to the absence of light. They call themselves Asmodians and live in the city of Pandaemonium under the rule of the Shedim Lords.

Players begin the game as human inhabitants of their chosen world (Elysia or Asmodae) who have had significant memory loss occur. Through attempting to retrieve their lost past and completing other tasks along the way, they are revealed as winged, immortal Daevas. After this has happened, the characters "ascend" to their respective capital cities to begin their lives as holy servants of their respective people. The worlds are almost completely separate until a player enters the abyss. The story and tone of the game differ greatly between the worlds, as do the landscapes and characters one encounters; however the basic linear progression is the same."
The Humans
Aion created the Humans shortly after the beginning of the world, as one of the races that the Balaur would rule over. Their culture and society was from the beginning far from monolithic, but on the whole they retained a strong sense of loyalty to their creator, and when the Balaur began to turn tyrannical, bringing most of the Sapiens under their sway, the Humans were the only people who resisted. As a reward for their loyalty, and in order to form a fighting force to resist the Dragon Lords, Aion began to cause some Humans to ascend as Daevas. To this day, all Daevas are born Human, and their ascension is not assured until the moment it occurs. Daeva and Human society are closely intertwined, but there are tensions and jealousy between the two groups, born of the innate inequality of their relationship.
The Drakan
The first inhabitants of Atreia, created by Aion to rule over the other creatures who came after. Some of the most ambitious Drakan soon found a way to tap into the power of a dimension beyond Aion’s reach, and Ascended to become the Dragon Lords, the first Balaur. In their lust for power they became tyrants over all the other inhabitants of the sphere.
The Balaur

The term “Balaur” invokes images of terror and fear for the level of destruction that they caused, and continue to cause, in Atreia. A mighty and highly intelligent race created by Aion to rule the planet’s population (including the human races), the Balaur quickly became fixated with power and servitude. Their obsession eventually threatened The Tower of Eternity after violating the restrictions that Aion placed on them, forcing the god to create the Empyrean Lords to safeguard the planet and its people. After a long and vicious war against the Empyrean Lords, the Balaur were involved in the destruction of the Tower of Eternity during an intended meeting for peace. In retaliation, the Empyrean Lords banished the Balaur, sealing them inside the Abyss, an unstable rift between the two shattered halves of Atreia. Recently however, the Balaur have managed to escape from their prison, and threaten this fragile world with their fury once again...

The Daevas
When the Balaur began to threaten the peace and stability of Atreia, Aion created the Daevas as protectors and guardians of the Humans and of the world. Daevas had the ability to tap into the Aether, the mystical force that filled Atreia, and to use it to channel great power. They were led by the Twelve Empyrean Lords, the first and the most powerful among them, who are revered by Daevas and Humans as gods. Daevas were created from Humans, and some Humans still transform into Daevas through the process of Ascension.
Empyrian Lords
The first Humans to Ascend into Daevas became the twelve Empyrean Lords. Each Lord or Lady is associated with certain symbols and virtues, and many of them are the patrons of particular playable classes. On an individual level their power is not necessarily greater than that of other Daevas, but their status as the first to Ascend grants them a special place in Daeva society, and they are revered by Humans as gods.

Four of the major Empyrean Lords represent the four cardinal directions--Azphel the north, Ariel the south, Siel the east, and Israphel the west--and they were traditionally perceived as supporting the world together from these four points, with the remaining eight Lords to aid them.

Historically, they were always disrupted by factional infighting, but during the Millennium War, Lord Israphel divided them further by proposing peace talks with the Balaur.

    The Tower Guardians
When the Tower of Eternity was shattered in the Cataclysm, the two guardians of the Tower went on an apparent suicide mission in order to stabilize the Aetheric Field enough so that the shattering of the Tower would not cause the whole globe to scatter out into space.
      Israphel, Lord of Space
      Siel, Lady of Time
    Seraphim Lords
The five who went to the south became the Seraphim Lords, the rulers of Elysea
      Ariel, Lady of Light (Leader)
      Nezekan, Lord of Justice
      Vaizel, Lord of Freedom
      Kaisinel, Lord of Illusion
      Yustiel, Lady of Life
    Shedim Lords
The five who went to the north became the Shedim Lords, the rulers of Asmodae
      Azphel, Lord of Shadow (Leader)
      Zikel, Lord of Destruction
      Triniel, Lady of Death
      Lumiel, Lady of Wisdom
      Marchutan, Lord of Fate
Dragon Lords
The Drakan were the first sentient inhabitants of Atreia, created by Aion to rule over the other inhabitants of the world. However, they crossed the line from stewardship to tyranny, forcing all other creatures--humans and sapiens alike--to yield to their authority. During the Drakan rule, five of the Drakan discovered a way to tap into the power of a dimension beyond Aion’s reach. Their physical and supernatural power took a quantum leap, and they rose to rule the other Drakan, calling themselves the Dragon Lords. The Dragon Lords declared their independence from Aion and increased the power of many of the Drakan, calling the more powerful creatures Balaur.

Section IV. Choosing a Side

Two Sides
    • The Elyos
    • The Asmodians

Note: You can only choose one side so think carefully
The Elyos
"The Elyos occupy the lower half of Atreia, known as Elysea. After the Epic Cataclysm, they found themselves bathed in sunlight for over 750 years and, as a result, have transformed into a beautiful and radiant people. However, their splendor has also led to the Elyos becoming arrogant; they see themselves as blessed by Aion, while the Asmodians, cast into darkness by the Epic Cataclysm, are seen by the Elyos as cursed creatures.

As a people, the Elyos can be comforting, with a warm and friendly manner. Against foes however, no such trace of kindliness or benevolence can be found. Their ascended forms feature stunning, angelic wings and they carry immense strength that belies their graceful facade.

The Elyos now serve the five Seraphim Lords who helped them build their city of Sanctum and guided them to safety when all seemed lost. The stump of the Tower of Eternity that stands on Elysea is now known as the Tower of Light, and serves as a constant reminder to its people of the terrible mistake perpetuated by the Asmodian people and their Shedim Lords."
The Asmodians
"The Asmodians are a brave and hardy people, separated from the Elyos by the Epic Cataclysm and plunged into a world of darkness and despair. To survive such desolation is one thing, but to thrive and prosper is quite another.

The scars of their history are still exposed for all to see; as the Asmodians sank into their cold and somber world, their bodies started to change. In the darkness, their skin fell pale, and as their eyes adapted, they developed an otherworldly glow about them.

To their own, Asmodians are infinitely generous and fiercely loyal - they would sooner give their life in battle than to see that of a comrade taken from them. However, outsiders beware; Asmodians are an increasingly hostile faction and will not think twice before bringing their colossal power into play. Similar to their Elyos counterparts, Asmodian Daevas are blessed with strength and the ability to fly, though their wings have darkened following many difficult years on Asmodae.

They now follow the Shedim Lords, the five Empyrean Lords ordered by Siel and Israphel to protect the upper foundation of the Aion tower, the Tower of Darkness, and with them have established the city of Pandaemonium."
Section V. Classes

Character Customization
The character creation system allows customization such as adjusting the height, weight and scale of various body parts. Different hair styles, skin colors, facial textures and voices can also be chosen. Further detailing can be found in the selection of eye shape and color, nose shape, ear size and shape and tattoos for the character's face and body.

The game will allow a player to dye their equipment to change its color and to change the graphics of one weapon or armor to that of another that they have in their inventory. This allows a player to display equipment graphics of items which they find visually appealing, while benefiting from the actual stats of different weapons or armors. Players can only change the graphics of an equipment to that of another equipment of the same type.
Classes
There are four primary classes that players can select from when they create a new character: Warrior, Scout, Mage and Priest. Once you have gained enough experience, you will be able to ascend to one of the two specialized classes available to your primary class.
Warrior
"Fearsome and hulking, a Warrior’s way is found more through brute force and great resilience than guile and trickery. However, do not be fooled into thinking that Warriors are brainless or simple-minded. A Warrior bears the brunt of the attack and can reply with tremendous force and power. Do not fail to appreciate what these soldiers can do for you or your group."

Once a warrior completes its acension quest it will be able to wear plate armor after choosing to become one of the following subclasses:

    Warrior Sub-Classes
      • Templar
      • Gladiator
• Templar
"Calling the Templar a maestro of defense wouldn’t be far from the truth, but one shouldn’t mistake its only purpose: to be an Atreian punching bag. With their high defense and various shield skills, Templars can also inflict some serious damage on their opponents. Depending on the situation, a Templar can swap a sword or mace (and shield) for a greatsword. While its ability to deal damage may be lower when compared to other classes, it would be unwise to ignore the Templar’s powerful attacks."
• Gladiator
"Gladiators are Daevas who follow the Star of the Sword. They expertly wield most melee weapons and are especially proficient using polearms. Their ultimate goal is to obtain a variety of battle skills according to each weapon’s properties. However, rather than flamboyant techniques or tricks, they prefer to attack the enemy with power and accuracy. Therefore, Gladiators reveal their true value in close combat. They also perform crucial roles in most legions."
Scout
"If the Warrior is about grit, power and sheer strength, then the Scout concerns itself more with speed, agility and awareness. Scouts are complex men and women who pride themselves on a delicate touch and a measured approach. Once they learn their inherent strengths and weaknesses, Scouts can be formidable opponents.

Although leather armor does not mitigate damage well, the Scout’s ability to evade most attacks makes them hard to hit and allows them to strike back with devastating counterattacks. "

    Scout Sub-Classes
      • Assassin
      • Ranger
• Assassin
"The Assassin is a killing specialist that follows the Star of Death. After hiding itself, an Assassin quietly approaches the enemy and aims for vital spots to inflict the greatest damage in the quickest time. This is one of the Assassin’s trademark combat skills. Some Daevas have criticized this class for ambushing defenseless enemies or using poisoned blades. However, the Assassin is necessary in the legions for the roles of infiltration, disruption, assassination, and more."
• Ranger
"A Ranger is a Daeva with exceptional archery skills. Not only can a Ranger expertly wield a bow, but can make good use of a sword and dagger for close combat. The Ranger is also a master with various traps, making it both a formidable opponent on its own and a valued member of any group. Being skilled in both short and long range attacks combined with the ability to manipulate traps makes the Ranger able to adapt easily to nearly any situation. However, arrows and especially trap ingredients can become costly, making the Ranger one of the more expensive classes."
Mage
"A Mage, while incredibly powerful, can be exceptionally vulnerable. They are able to deal out terrifying, awe-inspiring levels of damage at range, while taking little in return. Mages have command over the elements, summoning raging fireballs and chains of the coldest ice to wreak havoc over ranks of the enemy. They can even speak to the shattered planet, calling forth roots to bind enemies in place.

The mage comes equipped with cloth armor, and while not very resilient, it allows the caster the ability to move around the battlefield casting spells that slow and, in some cases, even stop their opponents in their tracks. This gives them the opportunity to unload with spells that deal immense amounts of damage to their opponents."

    Mage Sub-Classes
      • Sorcerer
      • Spirtmaster
• Sorcerer
"The Sorcerer is a Daeva who follows the Star of Magic. They are able to freely wield the destructive power of the natural elements: Earth, Wind, Fire, and Water. A Sorcerer is a scholar at heart, evident by the spellbooks and orbs they normally carry with them. However, these items can be dangerous weapons in their hands as they help increase a Sorcerer’s power."
• Spiritmaster
"The Spiritmaster is a Daeva born under the Star of Spirits, and is able to control spirits of Water, Fire, Earth, and Wind. It can call upon these spirits to attack directly, but it can also use indirect tactics such as borrowing the strength of the spirits to weaken an enemy or to inflict fear."
Priest
"Finally, the Priest is arguably the backbone of any successful group. Their ability to keep allies alive even in the direst of circumstances cannot be underestimated, and Priests can be absolutely vital in ensuring groups survive against the most pressing challenges in Atreia. Who would go into battle without a trustworthy Priest by their side?

However, do not mistake the Priest’s ability to heal for a lack of offense. While their offensive spells and melee attacks each may lack compared to other classes, the combination of the two and the ability to heal make the Priest a resilient and effective combatant."

    Priest Sub-Classes
      • Chanter
      • Cleric
• Chanter
"The Chanter can be explained in two words: commandment and conviction. It rigorously trains the body and mind to become skillful in healing, attacking, and enhancement magic. In addition to its magical abilities, it also possesses exceptional skills involving the use of the staff. The chanter uses mantra magic to inspire the morale of allies, and since it can strengthen abilities, it is the gathering center during battle."
• Cleric
The Cleric is a Daeva who follows the Star of Healing. It uses magic power to strengthen the body and to heal injuries. It can also restore life by using a revival spell when a Daeva’s soul and body are separated. In addition to supporting its allies, it is also capable of wielding a mace and shield when a melee battle occurs."

Section VII. The Abyss

The Abyss
During the Cataclysm, the Tower of Eternity was shattered. When this occurred Atreia was sundered into two halves, leaving a base for the tower on each half of the world. Between the tower’s bases a great disharmonious resonance began to flow. This is where the Abyss lies.

Entering the Abyss
In order to enter the Abyss both factions require that you complete a series of tests to prove your knowledge, strength, and ableness to survive the harsh environment of the Abyss. These tests are given to you when you reach level 25, and upon completion of the final test you will be able to use the one of the Abyss gates avaialble to you.

Quests Required to Enter the Abyss
    Elyos

      • Test Your Mettle

      • The Abyss Quiz

      • Deliver On Your Promises

      • The Last Test

    Asmodian

      • Honing Your Skills

      • Abyss General Knowledge

      • Following Through

      • The Last Checkpoint

Gate Locations
    Elysean

      • Verteron Citadel
      • Eltnen Fortress
      • New Heiron Gate

    Asmodian

      • Altgard Fortress
      • Morheim Fortress
      • Beluslan Fortress

Safety in the Abyss
The gates will lead to your faction’s main fortifications within the Abyss. Because of the aetheric fields surrounding each factions fortress, this will be the only safe place for you while venturing here. You will be able to find the same amenities within these forts as with any other major city or town in Atreia. You will also have access to Abyss Point Contribution vendors that sell various items useful for defending yourself in the harsh environment.

Traveling in the Abyss
The Abyss is a large expanse with many hazards. Simply getting from one place to another by normal means of travel can be quite dangerous. However, there are some ways to speed things along in order to get you where you need to be when required.

    Flight

Moving around the abyss normally requires flight. This is due to the nature of the land masses and their island like structures. However these islands are not seperated by water but by space. In the aether enriched abyss, you will be able to fly anywhere. Be wary though, as with any other flyable area, you are still limited by your bodies stamina and can only fly for so long before needing to rest your wings.

There are also Flight Rings within the area that will help by refreshing portions of your flight timer as well as giving you a speed buff for a short period of time. Along with the rings their are many items that will help to improve your flight attributes: Improving Flight.[/B]

Inter-layer Travel
The upper and lower levels of the abyss are seperated by vast expanses of space. While it is possible to fly to one level or another, it is quite a difficult task without some help. In order to reach the upper and lower portions of the abyss an Abyss Layer Teleporter is available that will safely move you up or down when needed.

    • To move between layers speak with the following

    Teleporters

      • Western Shard of Latesrar

        Elyos: Echo(Lower Layer) & Tiberius(Upper Layer)

        Asmodian: Peroniad(Lower Layer) & Riudona(Upper Layer)

      • Eastern Shard of Latesrar

        Elyos: Septimus(Lower Layer) & Theon(Upper Layer)

        Asmodian: Mure(Lower Layer) & Hwiath(Upper Layer)

      • Within the Abyss, Teleporters are available in your factions landing as well as some of the capturable fortresses. In order to use these, your faction will need to be in control of the fortress you are attempting to travel to or from.

Combat in the Abyss
Combat in Reshanta is much like anywhere else in Atreia. However, because you can fly anywhere in the Abyss, you may find yourself in flight when fighting. You may find some skills no longer available in flight, though you can also find that your passive flight skills will take effect and you will receive bonuses depending on the class you have picked.

As with anywhere else, when you defeat an opponent of the opposite faction, or an NPC from the Baluar, you will receive Abyss Points. These points are used to increase your Abyss Rank. As you advance into the higher ranks you will find you have access to unique skills available to those ranks. Only the highest ranks will have access to these skills, and each rank is limited to the number of people who can hold them on each faction.

Fortresses & Artifacts
Fortresses are the footholds within the Abyss. When under control of a player faction, that faction will have access to various ameneties allowing them easier access to supplies closer to the frontlines of battle. In order to take control of a fortress a siege must be laid on it and the it’s Guardian must be defeated.

Artifacts are strategic points throughout the Abyss. When under the control of the Asmodian or Elysean forces they can be used to inflict a number of varying effects on the opposing faction. These can be anything from damage to movement impairing affects. Controlling the artifacta near fortresses can be the deciding factor in a castle siege. However, the Artifacts are not required to be under controll in order to take or maintain a fortresses ownership.

Dredgion Battleships
In an effort to destroy the forces of the Elyos and Asmodians, the Five Balaur Lords have sent their Dredgion battleships to wreak havoc within the Abyss. These powerful monstrosities carry weapons that can fire on Daevas who get to close, blasting them from the skies. They also are the troop carriers for the Balaur and carry thousands of Baluar soldiers to drop as they please throught the Abyss.

In order to defeat the the Dredgion, the Elyos and Asmodian forces must find a way to enter it and destroy it from within.

Exiting the Abyss
Each landing has three portals that will allow you to leave the Abyss. Each of these portals will take you to their corresponding zones depending upon where you may need to go to either meet with your legion and friends, or to continue your adventures in another zone.

    Primum Landing

Altgard Teleport Device at Primum Plaza
Morheim Teleport Device at Russet Plaza
Beluslan Teleport Device at Primum Wharf

    Teminon Landing

Verteron Teleport Tower at Teminon Wharf
Eltnen Teleport Tower at Latis Plaza
Heiron Teleport Tower at Teminon’s Leap

Section VIII. Professions

Crafting Professions
"Adventurers commonly acquire powerful weapons, armor and equipment by claiming their just reward for defeating treacherous opponents and completing dangerous quests. However, another completely valid—and at times much less dangerous—method is to simply create them yourself through crafting. Through this process many different kinds of items can be created, many of which are not available for purchase from NPC vendors.

The base process involves learning a particular form of crafting, of which there are six in Aion: weaponsmithing, armorsmithing, handicrafting, alchemy, cooking, and tailoring. You can learn all six crafting professions, but you can be an Expert in only one or two.

Any item that can be crafted is actually composed of several individual components, or materials. You can either learn which materials you need for a particular item automatically or via purchase of the design. Generally these materials must be purchased from vendors or from other players, gathered out in the wild (via collection or extraction), crafted already, or morphed. Not everything can be crafted, however.

As you craft items you build up crafting level in that particular field. The higher the level, the better the items you can learn and craft. The Work Order, a specific type of quest, is also available to help you build up your crafting level. Note however that the only places where you can craft items are within the crafting halls of the capital cities (Pandaemonium and Sanctum)."

• Weaponsmithing
Weaponsmithing is the art of making weapons, and parts that can be assembled into weapons, out of metal. Weaponsmiths use the tools of any blacksmith: hammers, tongs, anvils, and forges. Novice Weaponsmiths struggle to make their first dagger, but eventually a master Weaponsmith can make legendary swords that are among the most powerful known to the people of Atreia.

The Weaponsmithing Skill
"Becoming a weaponsmith is simple -- just go to Anteros (in Sanctum) or Logi (in Pandaemonium) and pay a fee: 3,500 Kinah or so, depending on your current influence ratio. You’ll start with 1 Expertise Point (out of 99 possible). You’ll also have a Weaponsmithing experience bar in the Crafting tab of your Skills window. Each time that bar fills up, you gain another Expertise Point until you’ve hit your current maximum. The higher your Expertise Points, the better recipes you can attempt--and ultimately, the better weapons you can make.

When you first obtain weaponsmithing, you immediately gain one recipe: Steel Ingot. Your Weaponsmithing Master (Anteros or Logi) offers you the "Steel Pile Supply" work order. You gain additional recipes through questing, looting fallen enemies, and from merchants such as Nakia (Sanctum) and Mima (Pandaemonium). As you gain Expertise Points, Anteros and Logi will offer more difficult--and more rewarding--work orders.

Whenever you reach the maximum possible Expertise Points, return to Anteros or Logi and pay enough Kinah to raise the ceiling on your Expertise Points, according to the table below. Note that prices may vary somewhat depending on your faction’s current influence ratio. You get one Expertise Point immediately, which moves you up into the next tier."

Noble Weapons
Whenever you make a weapon (not just a material for a weapon), you have a random chance to make a Noble version of that weapon. Noble weapons deal more damage, offer bigger bonuses, and sometimes have more manastone sockets than their ordinary counterparts.

• Armorsmithing
"The hammer, anvil, and forge are the tools of the Armorsmith, capable of making chain armor, plate armor, and shields that are proof against the strongest attacks. At first, your creations will be modest: simple boots and gloves. But with time and determination, you can become a Master Armorsmith capable of making nigh-impregnable suits of armor and shields worthy of an Empyrean Lord."

The Armorsmithing Skill
"Becoming an Armorsmith is a matter of visiting Vulcanus (in Sanctum) or Kinterun (in Pandaemonium) and spending 3,500 Kinah for the skill. The price varies slightly depending on the current influence ratio. You’ll start with 1 Expertise Point out of 99 possible. You’ll also have a armorsmithing experience bar in the Crafting tab of your Skills window. Each time that bar fills up, you gain another Expertise Point until you’ve hit your current maximum. The higher your Expertise Points, the better recipes you can attempt--and ultimately, the tougher armor you can make.

When you first obtain armorsmithing, you immediately gain one recipe: Steel Ingot. Your Armorsmithing Master (Vulcanus or Kinterun) offers you the "Metal Plate Supply" work order. You gain additional recipes through questing, looting fallen enemies and from merchants such as Menomes (Sanctum) and Grupaks (Pandaemonium). As you gain Expertise Points, Vulcanus and Kinterun will offer more difficult--and more rewarding--work orders.

Whenever you reach the maximum possible Expertise Points, return to Vulcanus or Kinterun and pay enough Kinah to raise the ceiling on your Expertise Points, according to the table below. Note that prices may vary somewhat depending on your faction’s current influence ratio. You get one Expertise Point immediately, which moves you up into the next tier."

Noble Armor
Whenever you make armor (not just the material for armor), you have a random chance to make a Noble version of that armor. A Noble version of armor has better protective statistics, offers bigger bonuses, and sometimes has more manastone sockets than the ordinary version.

• Handicrafting
"Handicrafting is a profession that walks astride the living world and the manufactured one, taking raw materials such as wood and gemstones, then carving and cutting them into items that are deadly, decorative...or both. Simple handicrafts such as carved Crystal Gems, Betua Bows, and Tecoma Staves are within the abilities of nearly every handicrafter. But a Handicrafting Master can make Longbows, Staves, and magic jewelry of staggering power."

Handicrafting Skill
"Utsida (in Sanctum) or Lanse (in Pandaemonium) offer basic proficiency in Handicrafting to anyone who can afford 3,500 Kinah for the skill. The price varies slightly depending on the current influence ratio. When you first become a Handicrafter, you start with 1 Expertise Point out of 99 possible. You’ll also have a Handicrafting experience bar in the Crafting tab of your Skills window. Each time that bar fills up, you gain another Expertise Point until you’ve hit your current maximum. The higher your Expertise Points, the better recipes you can attempt--and ultimately, the more powerful your creations.

The Handicrafting Master immediately teaches you one recipe: Silver Ingot and offers you the "Wooden Staff Completion" work order. You gain additional recipes through questing, looting fallen enemies and from merchants such as Chiwurinerk (Sanctum) and Obirunerk (Pandaemonium). As you gain Expertise Points, Utsida and Lanse will offer more difficult--and more rewarding--work orders.

Whenever you reach the maximum possible Expertise Points, return to Utsida and Lanse and pay enough Kinah to raise the ceiling on your Expertise Points, according to the table below. Note that prices may vary somewhat depending on your faction’s current influence ratio. You get one Expertise Point immediately, which moves you up into the next tier."

Noble Handicrafts
Whenever you make weapons or jewelry (and not just the material for them), you have a random chance to make a Noble version of that item. A Noble version has better statistics and sometimes has more manastone sockets than the ordinary version.

• Alchemy
Alchemy is a profession that’s part chemistry, part inscription, part magic, and part artistic endeavor. An apprentice Alchemist toils with base substances, grinding up amethyst into powder, making simple mana potions, and distilling ink for simple scrolls. But the concoctions of a Master Alchemist can turn the tide of battle, restoring the grievously wounded and magically exhausted to full health and power. You also create Orbs and Tomes that are potent weapons indeed in a Mage’s hands.

How to Become and Alchemist
To become an Alchemist, give 3,500 Kinah to Diana (in Sanctum) or Honir (in Pandaemonium) to learn the skill. The price varies slightly depending on the current influence ratio. Once you’ve done so, you’ll see an Alchemy experience bar in the Crafting tab of your Skills window, and you start with 1 Expertise Point out of 99 possible. Each time your experience bar fills up, you gain another Expertise Point until you’ve hit your current maximum. More Expertise Points mean better recipes--and eventually more powerful creations.

The Alchemy Master immediately teaches you two recipes: Lesser Elemental Stone Powder and Lesser Elemental Water. The master also offers you the "Luciferin for Lamp Supply" work order. You obtain additional recipes through questing, looting fallen enemies and from merchants such as Darius (Sanctum) and Grad (Pandaemonium). As you gain Expertise Points, Diana and Honir offer work orders that are more difficult--and more rewarding.

Whenever you reach the maximum possible Expertise Points, return to Diana or Honir and pay enough Kinah to raise the ceiling on your Expertise Points, according to the table below. Note that prices may vary somewhat depending on your faction’s current influence ratio. You get one Expertise Point immediately, which moves you up into the next tier.

Alchemy Skill Teir

Noble Alchemy
Whenever you make Orbs or Tomes with Alchemy, you have a random chance to make a Noble version that deals more damage, has better bonuses, and sometimes has more manastone sockets than the ordinary version. You also have a random chance to create rare-quality manastones.

• Cooking
Cooking may not sound as exotic as Alchemy or have the obvious military applications of Weaponsmithing, but the food and drink a Cook creates is far from ordinary. Even the basic recipes available to a beginning Cook fortify the body, sharpen the mind, and fill the consumer with magical potence. And eating the delights of a Master Cook, dishes made with rare spices and the meat of dragons, will restore Divine Power, improve Elemental Defenses, and provide other benefits.

How to become a Cook
"To become a Cook, give 3,500 Kinah to Hestia (in Sanctum) or Lainita (in Pandaemonium) to learn the skill. The price varies slightly depending on the current influence ratio. Once you’ve done so, you’ll see a Cooking experience bar in the Crafting tab of your Skills window, and you start with 1 Expertise Point out of 99 possible. Each time your experience bar fills up, you gain another Expertise Point until you’ve hit your current maximum. More Expertise Points mean better recipes--and eventually more powerful creations.

The Cooking Master immediately teaches you a recipe: Roast Conide (Asmodian) or Roast Inida (Elyos). The master also offers you the "Gritty Conide Supply" or "Gritty Inida Supply" work order. You obtain additional recipes through questing, looting fallen enemies and from merchants such as Luelas (Sanctum) and Daraia (Pandaemonium). As you gain Expertise Points, Diana and Honir offer work orders that are more difficult--and more rewarding.

Whenever you reach the maximum possible Expertise Points, return to Hestia or Lainita and pay enough Kinah to raise the ceiling on your Expertise Points, according to the table below. Note that prices may vary somewhat depending on your faction’s current influence ratio. You get one Expertise Point immediately, which moves you up into the next tier."

Tasty Cooking
Whenever you make food or drink with Cooking, you have a random chance to make a Tasty version that is more potent and offers better bonuses than the ordinary version.

• Tailoring
Tailoring is a combination of weaving, sewing, tanning, embroidery and other fabric arts. At first, a novice Tailor will struggle with needle and thread, crafting simple bandages, shoes, and bags. But eventually the eye becomes more discerning and the fingers more nimble, and the Master Tailor creates robes of wondrous power and garments that practically exude Aether itself. A competent Tailor works both in cloth and leather, so Mages and Scouts alike find the Tailor’s creations useful.

How to Become a Tailor
To become a tailor, pay Daphnis (in Sanctum) or Zyakia (in Pandaemonium) 3,500 Kinah for the skill. The price varies slightly depending on the current influence ratio. Once you’ve done so, you’ll see a Tailoring experience bar in the Crafting tab of your Skills window, and you start with 1 Expertise Point out of 99 possible. Each time your experience bar fills up, you gain another Expertise Point until you’ve hit your current maximum. More Expertise Points mean better recipes--and eventually more powerful creations.

The Tailoring Master immediately teaches you two recipes: Thin Leather and either Tikel Thread (Asmodian) or Ruko Thread (Elyos). The master also offers you the "Medical Gauze" work order. You obtain additional recipes through questing, looting fallen enemies and from merchants such as Proserpina (Sanctum) and Kaiot (Pandaemonium). As you gain Expertise Points, Daphnis and Zyakia offer more difficult--and more rewarding--work orders.

Whenever you reach the maximum possible Expertise Points, return to Daphnis or Zyakia and pay enough Kinah to raise the ceiling on your Expertise Points, according to the table below. Note that prices may vary somewhat depending on your faction’s current influence ratio. You get one Expertise Point immediately, which moves you up into the next tier.

Section IX. Quests

Quests and Campaigns
Quests and Campaigns help players enjoy their character’s development and rewards, while experiencing the stories throughout Aion. Both are received by conversing with an NPC who is offering a Quest, entering a certain area, or by acquiring a Quest item. Each is followed by a story line that provides various levels of difficulty and rewards, depending on the Quest or Campaign.

Campaigns advance by placing certain intervals in-between levels and ask that you complete multiples specific quests in a row.

Work Orders are Crafting Quests that you receive and must complete in order to learn and gain skill in Crafting.

Quest List

Acquiring a Quest
    1. A Quest can be acquired through NPCs or Quest items. There will be a Quest mark shown above the Quest NPC’s head. Right-click on an NPC to interact with it.

For Quest items, you will need to mouse-over the Quest item in your Inventory (I) and double-click the item to bring up the Quest.

    2. When Quest NPCs with a yellow/blue mark above their head are right-clicked, or a Quest Item is double-clicked, the New Quest Window will appear.

    3. When the New Quest or Campaign title is clicked, another window will appear to explain the background of the Quest. You may go through several pages of dialogue before you get to the page letting you know what the reward will be.

    4. When you get to the rewards page, you will be able to Accept or Decline the mission. Accept the Quest/Campaign by clicking the Accept button at the bottom. If you choose the Decline button or use the X to close the window, the Quest/Campaign will not be accepted.

    5. When you choose Accept, the new quest/campaign will be placed in your Quests Window and also start flashing on the right of your screen in the Quest Tracker. You must place a check in the Quest Indicator to lock it in place or it will fade. It can always be added to the Quest Indicator from the Quests Window (J).

Quest Window
    Basic Display

Quests, Campaigns, and Work Orders are displayed in the Quests Window (Hotkey J) and are organized by Tabs. Placing a check next to the Quest places it in your Quest Tracker.

Each Tab is organized by area, characteristics and level order.

Completed Quests are still available through the Quests Window.

    Campaign/Quest/Work Order Tabs

Campaign - The Campaign list will appear.

Quest - The Quest list will appear. You can have up to 30 Quests at one time.

Work Order - Crafting Requests are placed in the Work Order tab.

    In Progress/Completed

You can sort what is displayed using the In Progress/Completed drop-down at the top-right of the Quests Window. If you choose In Progress, only those will be displayed. The same applies if you choose Completed.

    Sharing Quests

Use the Share button when you are Grouped with another player and share a Quest. Most Quests with simple objectives and no sub-quests are available to be shared with other players. Not all Quests may be available to share, especially some Related Quests and Item Quests. You or the other player cannot have already completed the Quest before and must have completed any prerequisite Quests in order to Share.

    Abandoning Quests

Clicking on a Quest name will bring up the Description. The Abandon button should then be activated and available for selection. To give up the Quest, click the Abandon button. Not all can be Abandoned. In most cases if you do Abandon a Quest you can re-acquire it at any time.

When the Abandon button is clicked a warning window will appear confirming that you wish to Abandon the Quest.

Dictionary and Pathfinding
Within the Quest Description, you will notice linked words in blue. These can be clicked to open up the Dictionary. The Dictionary provides information on certain areas, NPCs, Monsters, and named Monsters.

It gives detailed information, along with area information and a Locate button to place a marker on your Maps. There will also be additional linked words within the Dictionary that can be clicked for more information.

Quest Progress
Some Quests can be short and others are long. It all depends on the Quest and Level. You can check your Quest Progress by bringing up your Quests Window (J) and looking at the Quest Description or by clicking on the Quest in your Quest Indicator to bring up the Description.

Complete the Objectives to move on to the next step in the Quest. If the next step in progress is to see another NPC, that NPC will display the Quest Progress icon above their head.

Quest Completions and Rewards
When all steps or objectives of your Quest are complete, you will be directed to an NPC to collect your reward. The Quest NPC will display the Complete Quest icon (blue/yellow sun icon) above its’ head letting you know there is a Quest to complete and a reward to receive.

Right-click to open dialogue with the NPC. If the NPC has multiple Quests, choose the one you are completing.

Now you can complete the Quest and receive your reward. Some Quests offer reward choices. Rewards will be placed in your Inventory.

Failing a Quest
    Abandoning

As talked about earlier in the Quests Window section, you can choose to abandon a Quest or Work Order. In addition, you can also fail a Quest or Campaign.

    Failing

Some Quests and Campaigns have limitations, in which requirements must be met, such as completing an objective within a certain time frame. Others may fail if an objective is not met, such as a NPC dying when you were supposed to be protecting it or you get spotted when you are supposed to be stealthily scouting an area.

Campaigns can be resumed even if a portion was failed and you don’t need to Abandon or reacquire it. Quests must be reacquired from the Quest NPC after deleting the Quest, in order to proceed.

Section X. Alliances

Alliances
Alliances a large groups of players working together to perform a specific task in game. These tasks can be raiding large instances, defeating world bosses, or even sieging a fortress in the Abyss. Once created these large groups can be comprised of up to four full parties, with a maximum of 24 players.

Creating Alliances
In order to create an alliance group, you can right click on a player’s name in chat, their Target Status bar, or on their name in the Social Window [v] after you have searched for them. Once the option menu pops up select "Invite to Alliance".

Once the first person you invite has accepted the Alliance group will be formed. As you add more playes to your Alliance, they will be placed in your group until it has six people in it and then they will start to fill up the other groups.

Managing Alliances
Once the Alliance has been formed, the captain of the alliance can then move people around in groups in order to organize them. Also, the captain has various other options he can use when right clicking on a member of the group.

    Ban from Alliance

Removes the player from the Alliance Group

    Appoint Vice Captain

Makes the player an assisant to the Captain, can perform some of the same options a Captain can.

    Demote to Alliance Member

Makes a Vice Captain a regular member of the alliance group.

    Make Alliance Captain

Reliquishes control of the Alliance to this player.

    Invite to Alliance

This brings up a window to enter a players name that you wish to Remove from the Alliance group.

    Leave Alliance

Removes you from your Alliance Group.

    Group Distribution

This distribution window allows you to distribute Kinah to the rest of your current group.

    Force Distribution

This distribution window allows you to distribute Kinah to the rest of your Alliance group

    • Once your Alliance has been organized and you can check to see if everyone is ready to perform the next task with the Check Readiness button on the top of the alliance window. Both Captains and Vice Captains can perform this option. Once the button is pressed, a message will be sent to all alliance members who have 30 secs to respond. As players respond they will be checked off in the Alliance Window.

Section XI. Combat

Combat
"Battle within Aion is continual, and will pit you and your comrades against various monsters and humanoids, as well as other Daevas. Choosing how to overcome an opponent can depend on the class you have chosen when exploring the world alone, or the makeup of the group you’ve just joined. While the tactics may vary by the situation, the same basic principles are used when selecting a target and beginning a fight."

Targeting Your Opponents
A fight always begins with the choice of a target. Whether it is a monster, humanoid, or another Daeva, selecting an enemy to attack can be done in a several ways.

The most straightforward way to specify a target is by left-clicking on the enemy, and then using the attack action that, by default, is on your Quickbar. Double left-clicking as well as right-clicking on an opponent will not only specify it as a target, but will also begin your auto-attack if it is within range. You may also select the target in much the same way and use a skill. If the skill is a melee skill your character will normally begin to auto-attack with it’s weapon between skill uses. (Note: some skills will stop your auto-attack in the event they stun your opponent.)

Another way to select an opponent is to use the [TAB] key. This will initially select the closest target within your visual range. If used more than once, the [TAB] key will select the next closest target you can see and so forth until you come back to target nearest opponent.

    Other ways to target:

      - Creating a Macro with a /target command to select a particular entity to target
      - Using the [`] key assist another entity, the entity you are assisting must be targeted first

Once targeted you will see your enemy’s target status bar at the top of your screen as well as a red or yellow circle on the ground below it. Also, your mini-map will show a visible "ping" where the target currently is in relation to you.

Attacking Your Opponent
There are two types of attacks when engaging in combat. The first is your ability to continuously attack an opponent with the weapon, or weapons, you have equipped (which is commonly known as auto-attacking). This begins when right-clicking or double-clicking on the enemy.

As damage is done to your opponent you will see numbers pop up in white over the enemy. With weapons that strike multiple hits when auto-attacking, you will see the damage done by the initial strike, then subsequent damage by the successive strikes afterward. The largest and last number you see pop up will be the total damage done by both the initial strike and its subsequent damage.

The second type of attack, and the one that will have the most effect on your target, involves the use of the various skills your character has learned. The skills you have learned can lead to devastating damage in some cases. Other skills may do little or no damage but allow you to apply other various effects to your opponent such as poisons and other damage over time debuffs, as well as stuns or holds. In order to utilize these skills you can place them on the Quickbar and use the hot key associated to its slot.

You can keep track of the total damage done to your opponent with status bar above its head or the target status frame at the top of your screen. This gives you a visual representation of the enemy’s total health. Once the red bar in the frame is empty, the target has been defeated.

Be careful, however, as you don’t want to get into a fight you cannot handle by selecting a target much tougher than yourself, or by multiple enemies that can overwhelm you. Keep a close eye on your own health by watching your health bars located within the User Interface.

Each bar indicates an important aspect about your character. The red bar is your health meter, the blue bar is your mana points which are used by your skills, and the last bar is your Divine Points used by specific and powerful skills only Daevas have access to.

Defending
While engaging in combat, not only will you need to attack and damage your opponent, but you will also need to defend yourself from their attacks. To do this, a myriad of equipment is available to your character, generally based on class.

In addition to armor and weapons, the way you move your character while in combat will affect your damage output as well as your defense. While moving forward, your character will receive a bonus to damage inflicted, however you will also be more vulnerable to attacks. Moving backwards will increase your parry and block defense, but lower the power of your attacks. Strafing, or moving side to side, around your opponent will increase your ability to evade attacks.

Ending the Battle
Once enough damage has been done, hopefully to your opponent rather than yourself, the fight will be over. If you were successful, you will remain in combat mode for a few moments. However, to exit combat mode manually you can use the [X] key.

When your enemy is defeated, and it was a non-player character (NPC), you will receive experience points based on your level, the level of the NPC, and the NPC’s difficulty level. In the event your opponent was Balaur or a player of the opposite faction, you will receive Abyss points you can use to purchase Abyss items with.

If you are defeated, you will be given the option to wait for another player to resurrect you or you can elect to be revived at the last location where you bound to an Obelisk. Once revived you will notice you have a debuff applied to your character that slows your movement speed and temporarily reduces your attributes. You will also notice a small experience debt, as well. Both of these can be removed by visiting a Soul Healer and paying the required fee.

Looting
When you succeed at defeating your opponent, you will now see its body on the ground with a blue glow emanating from it. This indicates the target can be looted, at which point you can right-click to open up its inventory. Once the loot window is open, right click on the items in the window you wish to take, or just click on "Take All" to take everything in the list.

If you are in a hurry to move on to your next fight, you can use the [SHIFT] key in combination with the right-click to auto-loot the body.

Section XII. Skills

Skills
"Skills are the spells and abilities your character utilizes while in combat, assisting others in combat, or providing benefits and other useful temporary powers to you or others outside of combat. Most skills are used to damage a target while in combat, and depending on the class you have chosen will either be short- to medium-range melee abilities or medium- to long-range ranged abilities.

Other skills will apply de-buffs to your target. These types of skills will lower the target’s performance in combat and movement speed, or in some cases apply damage or other effect over a short period (damage over time or DoT).

There are other skills, similar to buffs or de-buffs, that you can place on friendly targets and players. Depending on the skill used, you can improve the target’s combat abilities and movement as well as apply healing over time (HoT) effects.

Lastly, there are skills that can heal friendly targets directly and can be very useful in groups. However, these types of skills are limited to Priest classes normally. As with other skills, once a target has been selected you simply make sure you’re within range and either click on the skill or use the hotkey you have it bound to."

Learning New Skills
"Once you have entered the world of Atreia, your character will have very few skills to use. However, as you master these skills your character will advance in experience quickly. Once you reach the appropriate levels you will be able to learn new skills. To find these skills you will need to find the trainer appropriate to your class in the nearby town. This vendor will have books you can purchase that will teach you new skills. To see if you are high enough level you can mouse-over the book to see its description, which includes the minimum level needed to learn that skill.

Once you have purchased your skill books, you will need to open your inventory and right-click on the book to add the skill to your skills list. A quick animation will occur along with a ping sound to indicate the spell has been learned and the skill book will be removed from your inventory."

Adding Skills to Quickbar
Once you have learned new skills, you will want to make them available for use. To do this you will need to move them from your Skills Window [K] to your QuickBar. This is easily accomplisjed by dragging the skills icon from the Skills Window down to the Quickbar slot you prefer it to be in.

Once you have the skill on the Quickbar you can click on it to use it or use the Key Command assigned to the slot it is in. Key Commands can be modified in Key Mapping.

Skills and Classes
Each Class uses its own set of skills and abilities to perform their specific roll within the world. Gladiators and Assassins tend to fill the roll of melee damage dealers. Rangers, Sorcerers, and Spiritmasters tend to fight at longer ranges, doing lots of damage as well using spells and traps to slow or hold their opponents. Clerics and Chanters are somewhat hybrid classes that use both ranged spells and melee skills to attack, however they also have abilities to both buff and heal other players. Templars are defensive characters focusing on absorb tanking while dishing it out at the same time.

Section XIII. Items: Consumables

Items
Aion contains a rich number of interesting and unique items that players can acquire, trade, use and enhance. These items can consist of weapons, armor, wearable equipment, food, potions, manastones, and more. In addition to these listings (which are not entirely comprehensive but provide a good inkling of what’s available), there are also sections referring to item rarity and how to enhance them through various means.

Consumables
Consumable items are used to do a variety of things. Some add buffs to improve your weapon attacks, while others heal you or recover mana. There are also items needed for specific skills--Odella Powder, for example. Some items can revive you on the battlefield, such as kisks or resurrection stones.

There are also various items that can be used to upgrade your weapons. These items are used in different ways in enhancing items permanently to improve your attributes.

Most of these items can be found while adventuring through Atreia and looting enemy NPCs. However, you will also find a lot of of these items on sale in General Stores, Potion Stores, and Contribution vendors. This allows you to stock up on them in the inevitable long venture into enemy territories.

    List of Consumables

Potions - Potions assist players by allowing them to recover health, mana, flight time, and in some cases to remove abnormal conditions.

Odella Powder - Odella Powder is used by the Mana Treatment skill to recover mana and the Herb Treatment skill to recover health. Depending on the Mana or Herb Treatments level higher level Odella Powders will be needed.

Food and Drink - Food and drink items benefit the adventurer in various ways. They can buff recovery rates, increase physical and magical abilities, and in some cases can transform players into other creatures.

Power Shards - When equipped and activated (B), power shards increase the effectiveness of your weapon attacks.

Scrolls - Like food, scrolls apply a variety of effects on a character. These can be defensive or offensive effects or can increase running speed or flight time. Some scrolls even have the ability to teleport you from one place to another.

Kisks and Resurrection Stones - Kisks are essentially mobile Obelisks, Resurrection stones allow players to revive their fallen comrades.

Dyes - These items allow you to change the color of your Armor and Head Gear.

Weapon and Armor Enhancements
These items allow you to enhance weapon and armor. Enhancing items increases their attributes to better improve your chance of conquering your enemies. However, different items affect weapon and armor differently. Manastones add specific attributes to a weapon or armor piece. Enchantment stones allow you to increase a specific attribute based on the type of item you are enhancing. Godstones add a special ability that grants a chance to affect a target when struck.

    List of Enhancements

Manastones - These items fit in the manastone slots on weapons and armor and add attributes to them.

Enchantment Stones - These increase an items enchant level and, depending on the type of item, increase an attribute on that item.

Godstones - These items add an effect that has a chance to be applied to an enemy target when struck by a weapon. These can only be placed on weapons.

Section XIV. Items: Weapons

Weapons
Players have a variety of weapons available to them. In all there are 9 different types of weapons: Daggers, Swords, Maces, Staves, Spellbooks, Orbs, Greatswords, Polearms, and Bows.

The limitation of what types of weapons can be used is based on the class a player has chosen. However, there are some Stigma Stones that may allow one class to use weapons not normally available to them.

    Types of Weapons

Daggers - One-handed weapons with fast attack speed, poor damage per hit, but they have a much higher chance to critically hit than other weapons. Used mainly by the Assassin and the Ranger.

Swords - One-handed weapons with a normal attack speed, moderate damage and a chance for a physical critical strike. Used mainly by the Templar, Assassin, and Ranger.

Maces - One-handed weapons with a normal attack speed, moderate damage, and buffs for magic boost. Used by Clerics and Chanters

Staves - Two-handed weapons with slow attack speed, moderate damage, and buffs for magic boost and magic accuracy. Used exclusively by the Chanter and Cleric.

Polearms -Large two-handed weapons with very slow attack speed and high damage capable of striking multiple foes. Used exclusively by the Gladiator.

Bows - Ranged two-handed weapons with very slow attack speed and moderate damage.
In order to use this weapon arrows must be equipped in the off hand. Used mainly by the Ranger.

Weapon Tool Tips
    1) Name - Name of the weapon; The color of the weapon indicates its Rarity.

    2) Weapon Type - This indicates the type of weapon the item is; ie - Dagger, Sword, Orb, etc.

In order to add an enchantment, an Enchantment Stone must be used on the weapon. If successful the enchantment level will increase by 1. However, if failed, the enchantment level will drop by one.

Section XV. Items: Armor

Armor
Players have four different types of armor: Cloth, Leather, Chain, Plate. However, the limitations of what types of armor can be used are based on the class the player has chosen.

Gladiators and Templars, while able to wear all types of armor, rely on plate armor, made of thick metals, to give them the resilience to fight on the front lines. Chain armor, while less resilient than plate, allows Clerics and Chanters the ability to move about the battlefield healing and buffing their allies while still providing protection in melee combat. Assassins and Rangers use Leather armor in order to be quick and mobile while striking from a distance of from the shadows. Lastly, Cloth armor helps to enable the Spiritmaster and Sorcerer to cast powerful magic from beyond the reach of their enemies.

Cloth
Instead of providing physical defense, cloth armor adds to a character’s magic abilities.

Mainly used by both Spiritmasters and Sorcerers.

Leather
While having more physical defense than cloth, leather armor increases the evasion abilities of a character.

Mainly used by Assassins and Rangers.

Chain
With increased physical defense, chain armor, like cloth armor, is used to moderately increase the magical abilities of the wearer.

Mainly used by Clerics and Chanters.

Plate
Having the highest defensive capabilities, plate armor allows the wearer more resilience to be in the front lines.

This armor is exclusive to Gladiators and Templars.

Shield
The shield is used in the off hand and can both increase the resilience of its bearer as well as help to reduce damage when a block is made. Clerics and Chanters, in some cases, can use these items to help increase their magic abilities. While used by Gladiators when needed to help tank, Templars use this item for both defensive and offensive abilities while defending their comrades in battle.

Armor Tool Tips
    1) Name - Name of the armor piece; The color of the name indicates its Rarity.

    2) Armor Type - This indicates the type of armor the item is; Plate, Cloth, Leather, Chain

    7) Evasion - This indicates the amount of evasion increase you will receive when this item is equipped

    8) Magical Resistance - This indicates the amount of magical resistance increase you will receive when this item is equipped

    9) Secondary Attributes - This area is where secondary bonuses will be given to this weapon piece. The availability of these bonuses is based on the Rarity of an armor piece.

    10) Manastones - This is the area where manastones can be placed. Each square located here is one slot that a manastone can be placed in.

Armor Enhancements
Like weapons, armor can have enchantments placed upon them with the use of enchantment stones. Each piece of armor receives a different amount of physical defense increase depending on the type of material it is composed of.

In order to add an enchantment an Enchantment Stone must be used on the item. If successful the enchantment level will increase by 1. However, if failed, the enchantment level will drop by 1.

All Accessories can be used by all classes. However, you may find some are better suited to a specific class due to the bonus attributes most items contain. For instance you may find a head gear item that is more suited to a Scout class versus one more suited for a Priest or Mage class.

In all, Accessories allow you to customize your character depending upon the role you wish it to fullfill.

Section XVII. Travel

Travel
"There are numerous ways to Travel in Aion. Sometimes you’ll want to take your time from one place to another, get to know the scenery and possibly work on Quests along the way. Other times, you may find yourself in a hurry and need a quicker transportation method, such as Flight or a Transporter. This section will cover all methods of travel available in Aion."

Walking and Running
On the ground you can use several different methods for movement. By default, you can use Click to Move or the standard W,A,S,D keys. To toggle between walking and running using the (.) key.

Click to move can be disabled and the default movement keys can be changed. For more information, check out our page on Key Commands and Key Mapping.

Return
The Return skill will be in your QuickBar by default and allows you to return to the Obelisk where you are bound. This can only be done once every 20 minutes.

Travel Hubs
Travel Hubs are found in major cities and points of interest throughout the world of Aion. They come in different shapes and sizes, but all offer forms of travel.

    Flight Transporter

To travel over long distances within a region, you can pay a Flight Transporter to send you from one Travel Hub to another. You just select your destination, pay a fee, and you will be set on auto-pilot to your destination. Flight Transporters are located in most towns and villages and each will offer different locations. Once you reach one, you can travel to any location available, even if you have not traveled there yet.

    Teleporter

Teleporters are often found in combination with Flight Transport, but not always. It is different than Flight Transport, as it sends you from one region to another. For example, you will use the Teleporter when you make your first to trip to either Capitol City, Sanctum or Pandaemonium.

Flying and Gliding
    Flight

Once you become a Daeva and receive your wings, you will be imbued with the gift of Flight. Flight is only possible within flight zones and you can rely on your Flight Meter to let you know when you enter one. In the Abyss, the entire region is free flight.

Flight is limited to 60 seconds, but there are Flight Skills, Armor, Accessories, and Consumables that will boost your flight time and other attributes.

Here are the basics of Flight control:

      - Take off: Page Up or Click the Flight Meter
      - Land: Page Down
      - Rise: R
      - Fall: F
      - Movement: Once you’re in the air, you can use your mouse and the W,A,S,D to move as you would on the ground.

    Gliding

If you are outside of a flight zone, you still have the Glide capability. Gliding is different than flight in its mechanics and that it has no cool off period. It can be extremely useful in reducing travel time when going long distances and can also be used to escape your enemies before certain defeat. With the right amount of strategy and placement, you can be ready to fleet from the enemy and Glide to safety at the right moment.

      To start gliding:

Start Gliding: Press the Space Bar once if you are in the air and twice if you are on the ground
to spread your wings and glide.

Stop Gliding: Tap your Space Bar again

Teleporter Statue

You can only find a Teleport Statue when you are in a Capitol City. For a fee, it will transport you from one side of the Capitol to the other.

Abyss Gates
The only way to get to the Abyss is through the Abyss Gates. Once you reach level 25 you will receive 4 Campaign Quests that must be completed before you can travel through the Abyss Gate. There are two Abyssal Gates for each Race.

Rifts
Rifts are randomly occurring phenomena in Atreia that take you to enemy territory. They are available around level 10 once you reach the Capitol City. There are also PvE and PvP missions that will take you through Rifts, should you wish to accept them. Be prepared before entering a Rift, as you never know what awaits you on the other side.

Section XVIII. Legions

Legions
In the darkest reaches of Atreia you may wish to have the aid of your associates. Those who form Legions will know the full benefits of team work and survival, and will reap the rewards unavailable to those who wish to face these dangers alone.

You enter into a Legion in one of two ways: you can be invited or you can create your own.

Creating A Legion
To create a Legion, click the Legion Creation Officer inside Legion Managing Office located in each race’s capital, and select [Create Legion]. All it takes to start your very own Legion is the starting fee, members and a name. There are a few stipulations beyond this.

    Check list for Legion Creation

      • The character who’s trying to establish Legion had established or disbanded a Legion within the last 7 days?
      • The character who’s trying to establish Legion belongs to another Legion?
      • Are there enough funds for Legion Creation?

If the above conditions are satisfied, enter the desired name of new Legion. The name will be verified to check whether the same name exists for another Legion, and if so, the establishment will be cancelled. Also when the entered name doesn’t follow the rules (the same rules with character name creation), the establishment will be cancelled.

Enter the name and click CONFIRM, the Legion is established and the founder automatically becomes the Commander (Legion Master).

When a Legion is created or joined by a character, the character automatically puts on a cloak with the Legion Emblem. This emblem can be changed through Legion Emblem Officer NPC (located right next to Legion Creation Officer). However, all Legion members subject to Legion Level and Legion level 2 or higher is allowed to change the emblem and level 3 or higher can register the emblem that they crafted.

What is a Legion?
In Aion, a Legion represents players who band together to fight against the other race. Low-level Legions go through developmental stages for companionship purposes. Also, it is a basic unit for big scale contents (Fortress siege, RvR, Raid) and is a gathering center for the players who share the common purpose.

There are many ways to enjoy the game but joining Legion can be a great way of playing Aion since it gives a sense of affiliation. And Legion members can share Legion Warehouse, are entitled to wear a cloak which is a symbol of Legion, and can use a shield that has Legion emblem when they reach a required level. More importantly, being in a Legion is crucial to enjoy many different contents that are for groups.

To view information about Legion, press G key to pop-up Legion Window but this window won’t pop-up if you don’t belong to a Legion. To be a member of Legion, you can create one yourself or can join an existing Legion that others have created.

Being Invited to a Legion
The only prerequisites for being invited to a Legion are: You must be of the same faction, you have to be logged in, and you must not currently be a member of another Legion.

Legion Management Offices
Legion Management Offices are located inside the capitol cities of each race respectively.

Legion Tag
The Legion name is displayed together with the character’s name. Legion Tag is only used on the character’s [Name Display] on the screen. Chatting/Trade window/Bulletin Board use a character’s name, and Legion Tag is not displayed.

Legion Announcement
When Legion Commander and other eligible characters press Compose Announcement button, Announcement Message entry window will be opened. Then press YES (CONFIRM) after composing a message to save in Announcement Window, the message will be shown in the Legion members’ chatting windows.

Legion Soldiers’ Self-Introduction
Legion members enter their self-introductions by right-clicking their character names in Legion window, and these introduction messages can be checked by any Legion members from Legion window. Only 1 self-introduction up to 25 characters can be displayed. If a new message is created, the previous message will be automatically deleted.

Legion History
It automatically records the major events that have happened to the Legion from when it was first created until it is disbanded. If you click Legion History Tab on Legion window, the Legion’s history can be viewed.

Legion Level
There are benefits to creating a successful Legion. You may not need much to start, but you will need to continue to recruit and grow in order to take full advantage of being in a Legion.

Requirements to advance the Legion level

      Costs for Level Increase
      Legion Achievement Points
      Minimum Number of Legion Members

Commandor Apointment
You can transfer the position of Legion Commander to another character by using <Commander Appointment> menu on the pop-up window. (You can transfer the position of Legion Commander only to a member who is online). When you select Commander Appointment, you’ll see a confirmation window to verify your intention to transfer the position. If you press the Confirm button, the character who’s appointed will view a pop-up window which asks acceptance. When Confirm button is pressed, the appointee will be [Legion Commander] and the previous commander will be [Legion Centurion]. All Legion soldiers will be notified the change of Commander through messages on chatting windows.

Legion Growth
When a member of the Legion acquires Abyss Points through quests, PvP, Fortress siege (RvR), etc., points will go toward Abyss Contribution Points. Abyss Contribution Points indicate the activities of the corresponding Legion members and the points are used in deciding to advance the Legion levels and the Legion rankings.

Even when a member withdraws from Legion or an item is acquired by consuming Abyss points, the Legion Achievement Points that’s already accumulated doesn’t decrease (Legion Achievement Points are like Legion’s experience points and Legion Achievement Points cannot be used).

Legion Menu
As the leader of a Legion, you can invite players (Invite to Legion) and control their permissions (Set Permissions).

Currently there are two levels of membership after the leader: Centurion and Legionary. Centurion is usually reserved for the tier below the leader, but you can set permissions for both.

Should you grow tired of leadership, you can pass it along using the Entrust Brigade General Author command. This must also be done before you can leave the Legion.

You can change the Legion tag through Change Nickname.

At any time you can remove someone from your Legion using Kick from Legion.

The Self Intro button lets other players know who you are or even alternate characters you may be playing.

As Leader, if you choose Leave Legion, you will leave the Legion and pass leadership to the player that you assigned Entrust Brigade General Authorize.

It’s very convenient system that allows Legion members to share many consumable items such as Weapons, Armor that aren’t sealed with souls yet, and as well as kina.

Legion Warehouse can be immediately used with Legion Creation, and the rules to use is the same as general warehouses. With the higher Legion levels, they can expand more slots of Legion Warehouse.

Legion emblem is a mark that represents your Legion, and it can be exclusively used to show off your Legion to other users. A cloak is usually worn when creating or joining Legion, this Legion emblem is engraved on the cloak.

Emblem Registration upon Legion Level
When a Legion is first created, an emblem cannot be registered and a pre-assigned common emblem is automatically used. When Legion grows and becomes level 2, you can register one of the emblems that have been prepared (this emblem cannot be further modified or edited). When Legion becomes level 3, an image file (256X256) created by the user can be registered.

How to register an emblem that’s created by the user

      • The size of Legion emblem should be 256*256 (24 bit) and "emblem.bmp" file (or "emblem.tga").
      • Place your Legion emblem file to upload onto AION folder and press YES (CONFIRM) button.

Disbanding the Legion
To disband Legion, click Legion Creation Officer NPC inside Legion Managing Office in each race’s capital, and select <Disband Legion> among NPC’s functions. Only the commander rank can disband the Legion and others aren’t allowed to disband the Legion. Also, please remember Disbanding Legion is not available when items or money are stored in Legion Warehouse.

Legion Explusion
Only Legion commander or soldiers with the authorized (from commander) rank and above can expel (forcefully remove) a member who they no longer wish to have as Legion members. If you right-click on the character Information window to open the pop-up window, you can expel the soldier by using <Expel> menu. Or you can use the [/Legion Expulsion] command to expel the member. You can expel a member even if you are in another zone by using [/Legion Expulsion "Player Name"].

      • Expulsion is allowed even when the Legion member is off-line.
      • You cannot expel a soldier of higher rank, or the same rank soldier, as you are; even if you do have authority.
      • When CONFIRM is selected, the character is now expelled from the Legion and all soldiers will be notified through system message.

Section XIX. Warehouses

Warehouses
Items that you do not wish to sell, but also do not want to carry with you everywhere, can be left in your Warehouse. When you find a Warehouse Keeper, you can access your Private Warehouse. Just like selling or trading, you can either drag the items to the storage area or right-click them from your inventory.

Main Warehouse
As you probably quickly guessed, the warehouse is a convenient place for you to offload items that you want to keep but not carry. There are several situations in which you will not be able to place items inside of your Private Warehouse. These items are most times associated with quests, but there are several exceptions that just can not be stored in the warehouse. These items will tell you where they can be stored.

Account Warehouse
Playing alternate characters on your account is a great way to experience the entire game. Plus you may have a need for a specific character in grouping. It is only natural that you would want to keep some the best items for yourself. The easiest way to transfer items between characters is to add them to your Account Warehouse section. Again, there will be some items that can not be added to your Account Warehouse section.

Legion Warehouse
In order for your legion to grow, you will need a place to collect your funds and items for the good of the legion. Those who have the proper permissions, can both deposit and remove items from the legion warehouse. It works the exact same way as the regular warehouse. That is to say that you can drag and drop or right click to move items around.

Expanding Your Warehouse
You will have the opportunity to expand the available space of your warehouse. You can have up to 64 spaces in your warehouse. In order to gain more space you click on Expand. Depending on the state of control in the Abyss, the amount you pay to upgrade each level of your warehouse will change. At this time you can only have 16 spaces in your Account Warehouse.

Section XX. Titles

What are titles?
As you do achieve things, you will be awarded Titles. These Titles are not just for show they actually have positive and negative attributes associated with them. Titles will appear next to your name when you have a selected Title. To choose a title, access your Profile Window, and select the Titles tab. This will show all of your available Titles. If you have Titles hidden in your Options, you will not show the Title, but this doesn’t mean that you will not receive the effect. If you turn off your name display, this will also turn off the Title display. The right title at the right time can make a huge difference.
