This was a character swap.
Bringing in Julien was a character swap.
Trading Subban was a character swap.
For the last 3-4 years they’ve commited to a play style and tactic that the whole team has not adopted and certain players are unable or unwilling to adopt.
Truth is, the play style is not suited for this team at all, but as long as there is a problem player to swap there is an excuse for the lack of success.
Here’s the truth; Julien and Bergevins playstyle can and does work. Is it championship caliber? I don’t think so anymore, but it does create success.
Domi fits this structure much better, he can contribute in points at the level chuky produces at, but more importantly he is a tough kid that plays hard.
Galchenyuk will have more sucess in points with Arizona that is undeniable, but I don’t believe AZ is close either to being a successful team
This creates the possibility of targeting a center *cough Tavares* while signing Domi now, and letting chuckys contract be someone else’s problem later
Do I believe in the system? No not really. Do I believe it could work? Sure it can!
But what else do we lose to achieve it, and how many Moreno players are we going to go through to get it?
Won’t happen with this management, and unfortunately we aren’t going to accomplish anything for these players
