They need more rom coms where the guy doesnt get the girl and it gets super dark at the end

They could just remove the comedy part and make it a dark romance. Where the guy loses the girl to some other guy and kills himself or something.

Or it could be shoujo and the girl loses the guy she likes to another girl and kills herself.

And then the guy who knew she liked him and killed herself becomes morbidly depressed and shuts himself off from the outside world. Cause he kinda liked her too, but went with the more assertive girl and feels responsible.
