Problem is that most of your CMs do weird stuff at the moment... Xabi and Sanches seem to have a competition going on about who can play more high-risk passes into the opponents' feet in their own half, Vidal + Javi + even Kimmich aren't technically gifted enough / fast enough / agile enough / deadly enough to take Thiago's spot, even though he clearly isn't at the top of his game in like 4 out of 5 games. Bayern is missing someone who can actually fill the role of an offensive #8 / almost a #10 and so far Sanches has clearly not been the awaited savior in that case.
If Carlo benches Thiago, Bayern have like zero creativity going for them in the centre and not a single player that can consistently win a 1vs1 in offense.
As an opponents' coach I'd love to see Carlo field Xabi + Javi + Vidal, since that means that Bayern's whole dribbling abilities are concentrated on the wings (or better: on a single wing, as long as Müller is used on the right side).
Teams that are usually properly defending in a compact team order like Atletico or Juve would eat a team like that alive imo and there are others who have less qualitiy, but could still manage to defend a centre mid like that.
