Ok, there are a couple of reasons I am creating this guide.

1. To help people who are using d2jsp live chat that want to join in on the fun of MIRC biggrin.gif
2. To help with connecting to d2jsp ALOT easier
3. And for the fun of helping people out tongue.gif
4. It's really really easy to get tech support in there
5. To get more people to idle cause we have ALOT of fun in there
6. repeate step 4

INSTALLATION

First thing is first...download the mirc client which can be accessed here

Once you download the installer..install it biggrin.gif

Once the program is installed run it and ill hook you up.

CONFIGURATION

=====Name and email and stuff======

-When mirc first starts up you get a cool pop up about 30 day thing about "Continue" or "Register on line now!"

-I have never registered for it and have had it for months...i just click continue every time that comes up.

-Now once you get past that screen, the mIRC options window pops up, asking for your Full Name, Email Address, etc.

-Fill that all out (name, email, nickname)

=====Extra settings=====

-Once you have completed that, in the same mIRC Options window, click on "options" which is in the "Connect" tab.

-Make sure "Connect on startup" and "Pop up connect dialog on startup" are unchecked.

-And have "Reconnect on disconnection" checked

close the mIRC options once you have done this

=====Registering yourself with the server=====

This is VERY important for mirc, AND is very simple biggrin.gif.

what this does is makes it so the server recognizes you when you join, and you don't get your nick changed every 60 seconds.

To register we are first going to connect to d2jsp server manually, before we set up mirc to do it for you.

to join the d2jsp server, in the bit white window where u can type in the picture here, type without the quotes, "/server irc.d2jsp.org"

once you have done that, allow it to connect to d2jsp for about 30 seconds (it checks for proxies and stuff) then you are going to register ur nickname.

to do so, type this,

/ns register nickname password

now every time you join the server if you type "/ns identify password" (the password you used to register) the server will recognize you and like you biggrin.gif

=====Connecting to d2jsp automatically when mIRC starts up=====

you should now be at a window that looks like this

Once you are in this window we are gonna make it so mirc connects to d2jsp and identify's yourself biggrin.gif

in that window...hit alt+r

mirc scripts editor should come up, in the remote tab (this is EXACTLY where you want to be)

Now in that window, copy this code and paste it there (in mirc).

but you'll need to change a couple of things:

1. Change "nickname" to your nickname your using on mirc
2. Change "password" to the password you registered with.

=====STARTING MIRC=====

Now when you start mIRC, click continue on taht register pop up, and you will automatically connect to irc.d2jsp.org, identify your nickname, and join the channels you included in taht code.

any questions, ask right here biggrin.gif

*Big THX to BWJM who helped me with that code for joining the channel and connecting to teh server automatically.*

=====EXTRAS====

Now you might be wondering how to connect to more than one server at a time using that code I have given above...well this is how biggrin.gif

here is an example of how i connect to mirc when i start up (without my pass obviously)

Before i post it, ill let you know what it does.

1. It connects to irc.d2jsp.org
2. It then connects to irc.shithead in a SEPERATE WINDOW (very very handy)
3. It then checks to see if i am connected to irc.shithead and if i am, it joins the channels i have put for that part.
4. Then it checks to see if im connected to irc.d2jsp.org and joins the selected channels there

CODE
on 1:CONNECT:{
 if ( $server == irc.d2jsp.org ) {
   /msg nickserv identify nickname password
   /join #d2jsp
   /join #d2jsp-trade
 }
 elseif ( $server == irc.someotherserver.org ) {
   /msg nickserv identify nickname password
   /join #uswest-dclone
   /join #useast-dclone
 }
}
on 1:START:{
 /server irc.d2jsp.org
 /server -m irc.someotherserver.org
}

again, any questions, ask right here biggrin.gif

you dont even need to add script at all... i dont remember how many different programs have this, but I know sysreset (mirc) has that as an option: auto-id and auto joining chans/servers

and idling has nothing to do with fun, its just for getting high user counts which is kinda pointless for jsp since its.. what the only chan there blink.gif (meaning all related jsp chans also)
the convo can be fun if everyone isn't away

anywho..

yes, but with people people who dont know what there doing...it makes things alot easier....especially since regular mirc is messed up with its perform...where if you have it joining #d2jsp and d2jsp-trade...its gona jion that with every server u connect to

i was joining 3 diferent servers on mirc and was getting pissed beyond belief becuase it would join 3 d2jsp channels when it wasnt necessary.

actually no it doesn't do that everytime, it depends on which way your joining the new server

I dont know about using script being easier than just clicking a few buttons in options but ya...

what is MIRC and whats so good about it?

IRC - Internet Relay Chat.

The thing that I love about it is it's real-time. It's like an AIM chatroom with 15+ people usually. There are also Operators (marked with an "@" prefix tag) to keep you in line.

Go to the IRC webpage and go to "FAQ" or "Intro to IRC" for more answers.

Alive_Again - You need to type "/ns register 12345 FakeGuy@Hotmail.com" whereas 12345 is your password and fakeguy@hotmail.com is your e-mail.

KB - you have two "Step 3"'s, nub.
