I decided to write this here to help people decide what Class would be best for them (For all you beginners, and anyone else who might need help choosing what to make), So that you don't let someone else decide whats best for you, and regret it later on after you spent countless hours leveling.

Once you have decided what you are making you can either check this post or Pm me for help

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Answer: No one can decide what is best for you, every person has their own personal favorites, What can be considered best by one person might be considered the worst by another, So you should never let anyone else decide what you should make.

However i will post the different types of Characters and Categories and a bit of detail about them, to help you figure out the possible best for you, Or at least to narrow it down to fewer choices.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Ranged Physical (If you like killing your enemies from far away but still don't really like magic, then this is the one for you)

Thief (Assassin only)
Bowman
Pirate (Gunslinger only)

Melee (If you love getting up close and personal in a fight, then this is the choice for you)

Warrior
Pirate (Brawler only)
Thief (Bandit Only)

Magic type (Ranged of course):

Magician

Support type Classes (If you prefer to support your group rather than attack on the front lines then this is the choice for you)

Magician (Cleric only)

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Please do not post here until i have everything down.

I will now give a more detailed explanation of each of the classes and their second/third jobs and possibly fourth jobs

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Warrior

First job: Warrior- These guys sure can take a hit, they have the most amount of HP out of all the classes, Although they are considered "Slow" until 3rd/4th job , that's where they show their true power. They are also one of the two classes in MapleStory which gets an Aoe skill in first job.
You can check out the Warrior skills here http://global.hidden-street.net/characters/warrior.php

At level 30 the Warrior has 3 choices to choose from for their "Second job", This is an important choice because it will decide what you will specialize in (From now on you don't get any choices for your 3rd/4th job, you only have one option).

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Warrior option #1: Fighter

Second job: Fighter - These guys have a choice of using either 2 handed swords, 2handed axes, 1 handed axe + Shield or 1handed sword + shield, Although people tend to go with the 2handed sword/axe option (since they really don't need that little bit of extra defense from the shield). You can also only Specialize in one, so choose carefully (Either Axe or Sword).
For more info on their skills you can see them all here - http://global.hidden-street.net/characters/fighter.php

Third Job: Crusader- These guys use a "Combo" to increase their damage of special "combo attacks" if you will.
For more info you can look at their possible skills here - http://global.hidden-street.net/characters/crusader.php

Fourth job: Hero - Now these guys just get a stronger version of combo and some skills that increase their "Combo attacks" Damage, BUT they also get a brand new attack skill that is not effected by Combo and doesn't require combo to be used, The skill name is Brandish, And this is also the time where these guys are considered one of the most powerful classes in the game.
For more info you can check Hero skills here - http://global.hidden-street.net/characters/hero.php

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Warrior option #2: Spearman

Second job: Spearman - These guys have a choice of using either Spears or Pole arms (Generally people only specialize in one of them, however since Spearman have a skill that is useless past 3rd job (Final Attack), I would recommend making a Hybrid - A Spearman that specializes in both Spears and Pole Arms, it is better this way in the long run), If you decide to make a hybrid and aren't sure how, then please PM me or check out Bonktokess's Character guide, You will also be getting a skill that is very useful and needed in parties (Hyper Body, Which increases every bodies health and mana by 60% when its maxed).
For more info on Spearman skills check here - http://global.hidden-street.net/characters/spearman.php

Third job: Dragon Knight - This is the "Glorious" time you have been waiting for all of your slow Spearman life, the Dragon Knight has some of the Strongest and Coolest looking 3rd job skills, All of which have a wonderful Dragon animation whenever you use them, which i will admit just looks plain cool biggrin.gif. This is also the time where you will most likely start to level together with a priest - Somewhere in your late 70's probably (They will provide you with buffs and heals while you pound out pure damage at everything in your way), And lets face it, leveling with another person makes it all the less boring >_>.
You will also get 2 main skills (Crusher - Which attacks 3 monsters 3 times, and Fury which attacks 6 monsters once) And that is when being a Hybrid will pay off the most.
For more info on their skills check here - http://global.hidden-street.net/characters/drknight.php

Fourth job: Dark Knight - Nothing much changes here, You will still be training with Priests and you get a lot of new skills (like everyone else does), but you will still be using Crusher and/or Fury as your main attack, Although you will get some new attacks that will help you out a lot. (You also will be able to summon a little brown thing that flies next to you and buffs you all the time, which is pretty cool i guess).
For more info on Dark Knight skills check here - http://global.hidden-street.net/characters/darkknight.php

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Warrior option #3: Page

Second job: Page - These guys have a choice of either using Swords or Blunt Weapons (For those who don't know what that means -Maces/Hammers/Stuff like that without a sharp edge)
For more info on Page skills check here - http://global.hidden-street.net/characters/page.php

Third job: White Knight - At this point these guys get start using Magic to enhance their weapons and deal more damage (They have 3 different types of charges to choose from, Lightning/Fire/Ice), Each of them may have different damage bonuses and effects (For example when you charge your weapon using an Ice based charge, the monster you hit will freeze on chance for a number of seconds). They don't really do as much damage as the other warrior classes at this level, but they attack fast and of course may do alot more damage on different types of mobs (For example using a Lightning charge on your weapon while fighting Mobs that are weak to lightning = more damage).
For more info on White Knight skills check here - http://global.hidden-street.net/characters/knight.php

Fourth job: Paladin - Again They get a new charge and some new skills (Some are pretty cool), and like the Hero they get a skill that doesn't require a charge (Or combo in the hero's case) to use, the skill is Blast (It attacks 1monster once with a very powerful blow).

Magician

First job: Magician - This is the only class which gets its first job at level 8 (Compared to the other classes where the requirement is level 10). Magicians are the fastest levelers until about level 35 (Grinding of course, Since everyone levels the same in PQ, although you can argue some classes get in easier than others, In which case i will say Everyone wants Magicians in Kerning PQ), from 8-35 they do the most damage out of all the classes (Unfunded). Although in second/third job they are considered one of the weaker classes.
They also get the ability to Teleport at 2nd job which helps them get around faster than most other classes
For more info on Magician skills check here - http://global.hidden-street.net/characters/magician.php

At level 30 the Magician has 3 choices to choose from for their "Second job", This is an important choice because it will decide what you will specialize in (From now on you don't get any choices for your 3rd/4th job, you only have one option).

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Magician option #1: Fire/Poison Magician

Second job: Fire/Poison Magician - Be prepared to level pretty slow here, they get a few attacks, but you will be using "Fire Arrow" until level 7x, and it is a pretty boring skill (Attacks 1monster 1 time), Now the reason the Fire/Poison Magician is a lot slower and boring than other types of Magicians, it it has no Aoe attacks (Area of effect, Basically an attack that hits more than one mob).
For more info on Fire/Poison Magician skills check here - http://global.hidden-street.net/characters/fire_wiz.php

Third job: Fire/Poison Mage - Everything will change now, You finally get a Aoe skills (Fire Explosion & Poison Mist), And by the time you are in your late 70's you will start leveling fast again.
For more info on Fire/Poison Mage skills check here - http://global.hidden-street.net/characters/fire_mage.php

Fourth job: Fire/Poison Arch Mage - This is the level where the Magicians really shine again, You get a bunch of high damage Map Aoe skills (Skills that attack everything on your screen), Unfortunately even though you will level pretty fast with those big new skills, you wont really be "Needed" for Boss runs as much as some other classes (Due to your damage not really being that good VS one monster), And those crazy big AOE skills you got are just too slow to be effective and they lag other people. You will also now be able to Summon an Ice Based Creature that will help you kill everything, and you will get some more normal Aoe skills
For more info on the Fire/Poison Arch Mage skills check here - http://global.hidden-street.net/characters/fire_arch.php

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Magician option #2: Ice/Lightning Magician

Second job: Ice/Lightning Magician - Your leveling speed will be decent here, you will have two main attacks here (Thunder bolt, and Ice beam, Thunderbolt is an Aoe skill which attacks 6 monsters can max them both). Alot of the times you will be mobbing (Leveling at a place where there are lots of monsters close to each other, so that you can best utilize your Aoe skill), and other times you will be forced to train at places where the mob is weak to Ice so that you can be effective with Ice Beam.
For more info on Ice/Lightning Magician skills check here - http://global.hidden-street.net/characters/ice_wiz.php

Third job: - Ice/Lightning Mage - You will now get 3 new attack skills, (1x Aoe skill, and 2x Non-Aoe skill) Although you can only Max one of the Non-Aoe skills (One is fast attacking but low damage, other is slow attacking but higher damage). Again your leveling style will be the same as in second job (except now your Aoe skill will be an Ice based skill and your Non-Aoe skill will be a lightning based skill).
For more info on Ice/Lightning Mage skills check here - http://global.hidden-street.net/characters/ice_mage.php

Fourth job: - Ice/Lightning Arch Mage - Just like the Fire/Poison Arch Mage you will get some Map Aoe Skills (Although yours will be Ice Based), You will also now be able to Summon a Fire Based Creature that will help you kill everything, It looks pretty cool), You also get a few normal Aoe skills that look pretty cool.
For more info on Ice/Lightning Arch Mage skills check here - http://global.hidden-street.net/characters/ice_arch.php

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Magician option #3: Cleric

Second job: Cleric - You will now have the ability to heal people in your party, and buff them, So you will be able to find a party for any PQ pretty easily since everybody needs a healer, As you level you will start training at Undead mobs (You can attack them with heal since they are undead - Aoe), You will also have another attack skill (Holy Arrow), But it isn't all that good and most people don't add any points in it.
For more info on Cleric skills check here - http://global.hidden-street.net/characters/cleric.php

Third job: Priest - You will get a few extremely useful buffs and and pretty cool skills (For example Mystic Door, Allows you to open a door between the map your in and your nearest town, allowing members of your party or yourself to go through for a period of time, You will also be able to turn monsters into Snails for 20 seconds, when maxed), You will most likely be training with a Dragon knight from now on, you will heal + buff him all the time while he kills monsters. (Although you can choose to go solo, but it will be a lot slower and more boring), You will also have the ability to Summon a dragon, which follows you and attacks things around you.
For more info on Priest skills check here - http://global.hidden-street.net/characters/priest.php

Fourth job: Bishop - Like the other Fourth job magicians, you will also get two Map Aoe Skills (Again yours will be holy based, unlike the other Mages which have an Ice based and Fire Based skill), You will also have the ability to resurrect someone when they die (Every 30minutes, when maxed, This skill is very useful at Boss fights like Zakum/Horntail in which if you die you can't get back in, unless resurrected), You also get a new skill to summon a bigger and more powerful dragon to fight by your side.

Bowman

First job: Bowman - Long range physical class, be prepared to carry around a tonne of arrows at all times (Don't worry they aren't that expensive, but without them you are useless, obviously since they are your ammo), You won't level as fast as magicians but your leveling speed out of all the classes will be average, not too slow and not too fast, Also They only have a choice of two different Second jobs (Compared to the previous classes which had 3 choices)
For more info on Bowman skills check here - http://global.hidden-street.net/characters/bowman.php

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Bowman option #1: Hunter

Second job: Hunter - These guys can only use Bows, And you won't have to worry about all of those arrows any longer, because now you get a skill that lets you shoot without arrows being wasted (Soul Arrow), And you also get an Aoe skill (Arrow Bomb). Your damage will probably be above average (On a single target), compared to some other classes
For more info on Hunter skills check here - http://global.hidden-street.net/characters/hunter.php

Third job: Ranger - You will now be able to get around a lot faster than before (Due to the skill Thrust, Which increases your moving speed by 30 when maxed). You will also get a pretty powerful skill which attacks one monster 4 times (Strafe), You also get two Aoe skills (One is fire and one is normal, And they work in different ways, one of them shoots an arrow out and it explodes on hit, while the other Rains down a bunch of arrows and attacks anything close to the front of you). You also have the ability to summon a Hawk which will follow you and attack anything close to you, And you also have the ability to summon a "Puppet" which a monster will attack instead of you until it is out of hp).
For more info on Ranger skills check here - http://global.hidden-street.net/characters/ranger.php

Fourth job: Bow Master - You will now get one of the best buffs in the game (Sharp Eyes), which will allow you to crit more often increasing your overall damage, And of course buffing other classes with this skill allows them to Critical hit too. Due to this buff you are very well wanted in boss runs, since it increases every bodies damage in your party, You also get a pretty good skill for attacking 1mob at a time (especially good VS Bosses) - Hurricane, this skill continues to fire arrows rapidly at your enemy until you let the button go, You will also be able to summon a bigger and more powerful fire based bird (Phoenix).
For more info on Bow Master skills check here - http://global.hidden-street.net/characters/bowmaster.php

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Bowman option #2: Cross Bowman

Second job: Cross Bowman - These guys can only use Crossbows (Which are more powerful but attack slower than bow's), They are pretty similar to the hunter, although you do get some different skills, You will also get an Aoe skill (Iron Arrow) which fires an arrow through 6 mobs, getting weaker as it goes through each mob), and you also can stop worrying about carrying all those arrows around, because you also get Soul Arrow.
For more info on Cross Bowman skills check here - http://global.hidden-street.net/characters/crossbow.php

Third job: Sniper - Again very similar to the Ranger, you also get Thrust which increases your moving speed, and you also get Muppet, You also get two Aoe attacks, however yours are both the same time (Neither of them needs you to shoot an arrow out and explode or whatever on impact, instead one of them rains arrows down onto the mobs, while the other rises arrows from the ground hitting the mobs), You also get Strafe and you can summon an Eagle. Their strength compared to rangers is pretty much the same at this point, just that they do more damage per hit while the rangers attack faster.
For more info on Sniper skills check here - http://global.hidden-street.net/characters/sniper.php

Fourth job: Marksman - Like the Bow master you also get the buff "Sharp eyes", You get a new Aoe skill (Similar to your second job one, but this one Increases damage as it passes through mobs, not vice versa), However you get a new skill that divides the marksman from the bow master, it is called "Snipe", it does ALOT of damage on a single mob, however due to its power you can only use it once every 15 seconds (When maxed), And just like the Bow Master people will want them for Boss runs mainly because of their Buff, but also because of their damage.

Thief

First job: Thief - Long Range and/or Close Combat class - The thief class can be one of the slowest to level until around level 38/40 (That is IF you choose to make a traditional Bandit), However if you choose to go with the ranged option in this first job, you're leveling speed wont be that bad (If you are unfunded), I will explain this in more detail under the Bandit section, since it only applies to them. The thief class is also pretty fragile (in terms of HP/defense), However they make up for it with the highest Avoidability in the game, making mobs miss them most of the time.
For more info on Thief skills check here - http://global.hidden-street.net/characters/thief.php

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Thief option #1: Bandit

Second job: Bandit - Bandits use Daggers & Special thief only Shields to fight, They are 1 on 1 based (Attacking 1 mob at a time, rather than groups of them), Their main attack is Savage blow (Attacks 1mob 6 times when maxed, And it has a very cool animation when used), the bandit also gets "Haste", which is a skill that increases your and your parties movement and jump speed (Very useful skill, helps you get around a lot faster increasing the speed at which you level), The bandit also attacks very fast (Since daggers are all "Fast" and the skills you use combined with dagger booster make you attack a lot faster). You will level pretty fast in second job (Past level 40 anyway, once you have savage blow maxed), You will also be wanted for PQ since you will be dealing a lot of damage vs 1mob (needed for the boss), and your increased accuracy will let you hit the boss 100% of the time, (Also you have Dark Sight, which is needed to pass a certain stage in Ludi PQ), And of course you have Haste which increases every ones movement speed.

Third job: Chief Bandit - You will now get 3 new attacking skills, one of which can attack up to 6 mobs at once (Band of thieves), Another one (Assaulter) which makes your character pass through the mob at great speed and attack it, at the same time having a chance to stun it (pretty cool skill), and finally you have Mesos explosion (It does what it says, you drop mesos and explode them dealing great damage, more mesos dropped = more damage), You also get a skill called Pick pocket, which makes mobs drop coins of mesos as you hit them, which you can explode of course, and finally to help you survive easier you get Mesos Guard (Absorbs 78% of the damage recieved, but uses a certain amount of your mesos every time you are hit). The chief bandit is also very good Vs bosses (because of Mesos Explosion), they are probably the class which can solo a boss the fastest (provided they have enough mesos).
For more info on Bandit skills check here - http://global.hidden-street.net/characters/bandit.php

Fourth job: Shadower - Now you get a pretty cool skill that increases your chance to be missed by an enemy by 40% when maxed (Shadow Shifter), So now if you do the math you will barely ever be hit by an enemy your level, You will also get a new Aoe skill which is pretty cool (Ninja Ambush - Description: For a set period of time, a group of ninjas hiding around the bushes will periodically ambush up to 6 monsters at once.), You also get two new attack skills (Assassinate - Which can be used when you are in Dark Sight only, the longer you are in Dark Sight the more damage you will do), And Boomerang step, which is kind of like your 3rd job assaulter skill, except this steps through the monster and attacks, and then immediately steps back and attacks again (pretty cool skill), and of course a cool skill is Smoke Shell (Throws a smoke shell around one's area preventing people (in your party) from being hit by monsters.
For more info on Shadower classes please check here - http://global.hidden-street.net/characters/shadower.php

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Thief option #2: Assassin

Second job: Assassin - These guys use Claws and throw stars, They are one of the strongest (If not the strongest) classes in second job, Again like the bandit they have haste, which allows them to get around fast and jump up high and throw stars at mobs, dealing a lot of fast damage, Again like the bandits they are wanted for PQ alot, due to their massive dps, their haste and dark sight. However be prepared to be going to towns to recharge your stars all the time, and be prepared to spend all your mesos on better stars (If you have any mesos to begin with, if not then be prepared to save up for them).
For more info on Assassin skills please check here - http://global.hidden-street.net/characters/assassin.php

Third job: Hermit - You will still be using your main attack from first job here, However you will now have a new skill which attacks up to 6 monsters (Avenger, The skill animation also looks really cool), You will also be getting another skill that you will use forever from now on (Shadow partner - Which forms a shadow behind you that does everything you do for a certain amount of time, the damage it does is increased as you max the skill, So now your attack that threw two stars seems to throw 4 stars), You also get a skill that makes mobs drop 50% more mesos when you kill them (Meso up), And finally you get an awesome new skill that lets you jump fast and far through the air (Flash Jump - usable after you jump normally), Now you will be able to jump over groups of monsters and get into an area from which you can attack them again, and you can get around a lot faster now.
For more info on Hermit skills please check here - http://global.hidden-street.net/characters/hermit.php

Fourth job: Night Lord - Again like the Shadower you will get Shadow Shifter which helps you avoid enemy attacks, and you also get "Ninja Ambush", You will now get a skill that allows you to use your skills without wasting any stars (Shadow Claw), So now you can finally just buy a few set of the best stars out there and use it forever, not having to worry about running out of stars too soon (Although using the skill consumes 200 stars itself and lasts for 2minutes when maxed), And finally you get a new main attacking skill (Triple Throw), Which as the name suggests throws 3 stars (compared to the 2 stars from your last skill), and of course with shadow partner that will turn into 6 stars. You also get a skill that pushes mobs away from you, so that you can attack them easier. Again you will be good Vs bosses due to your dps.

Pirate

First job: Pirate - Melee combat or Ranged physical, the pirate is pretty similar to a thief (in the sense that thief's also offer both long range and close combat 2nd jobs), but they are also very similar to bowmen (The gunslinger is anyway), they are one of the two classes which offers an Aoe skill in first job (Somersault Kick - Brawler option only). They aren't the fastest levelers in first job, but they aren't the slowest either.
For more info on Pirate skills please check here - http://global.hidden-street.net/characters/pirate.php

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Pirate option #1: Brawler

Second job: Brawler - These guys use Knuckles to fight, they also have a choice of two Aoe skills in second job, as well asl one non Aoe skill (Double Uppercut), Their damage isn't that good here, they are decent, but nothing special, They cannot out damage Thieves in 1v1 here and they cannot out damage Magicians at pve, they are basically "average". They are also a pretty new class so scrolled/good items for them aren't as plentiful as items for other classes
For more info on Brawler skills please check here - http://global.hidden-street.net/characters/brawler.php

Third job: Marauder - You get two new Aoe skills here, one of which can only be used when you are in transformation (A skill that turns you into this shiny fiery looking thing), and the other can be used when the energy is full charged (. You also get your Stun mastery here, which further helps you to keep your mobs stunned as much and long as possible, Your damage increases here, they are pretty good at mobbing now with their new more powerful skills.
For more info on Marauder skills please check here - http://global.hidden-street.net/characters/marauder.php

Fourth job: Buccaneer - You get some really cool looking skills here, and some pretty powerful ones too, you get a few new Aoe skills and you finally get a good 1v1 skill (Demolition - Attacks a single monster 8 times - Can only be used while in transformation though), But you also get another 1v1 skill, not as powerful though (Barrage), you also attack a lot faster with the new skill "Speed infusion".
For more info on Buccaneer skills please check here - http://global.hidden-street.net/characters/buccaneer.php

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Pirate option #1: Gunslinger

Second job: Gunslinger - A the name suggests, these guys use guns (And bullets as ammo) to attack enemies, They also get 2 Aoe skills here and one non aoe skill, and a skill that allows them to stay in the air for longer (After a jump), They do decent damage, and have some really fast attacks.
For more info on Gunslinger skills please check here - http://global.hidden-street.net/characters/gunslinger.php

Third job: Outlaw - You will get some pretty cool skills now, you can summon an Octopus that will attack your enemies, you can summon a bird which will throw grenades onto your enemis, you will also get new Flame and Ice based attacks.
For more info on Outlaw skills please check here - http://global.hidden-street.net/characters/outlaw.php

Fourth job: Corsair - Again you will get even cooler skills here, you can now hop onto a battleship, and shoot cannons and torpedo's at enemies from it, You can also call in an Aerial attack (Birds swooping down and throwing grenades at everything), you also get a cool skill called Hypnotize, which makes the monsters attack each other for a certain period of time.
