The biggest difference I see are as follows:

The PDP comes with an additional rack tom, and is 250$ cheaper.
I greatly prefer the OCDP blue finish.
I like the sizes on the OCDP kit better.
From reviews I've read the OCDP kit is at best average for a maple kit.

Any opinions or information about these 2 kits would be greatly appreciated.

if u have $1000, id get the orange 1

imo, it looks more sturdy and less weird

BUT
the black does use mounted toms from the bass drum which personally i find better unless u have ure own rack ofc

if u can get the black one in other colours, get it

more drums = win :D

although: if u cant get it in a different colour get the orange 1, it looks nicer and more jazzy

just my opinion though ofc

final view:
get black one if u can get it in other colours
get orange one if u want a probably better kit

just thought, get black 1, $250 = a couple of nice cymbals

Well actually I like the fact that there's no tom holders mounted into the kick drum, because imo it sounds better, plus I have a V-rack so it's all good. your point about the cymbals is a good one, I need a new crash desperately. I'm looking at the 18" Sabian AAX Stage crash, it should accompany my 17" nicely.
