You're very right.
When I was young I used to just get as high as I could and get the best sounding moves, I know realize the effects and evs and all that.
Its actually quite hard to understand considering the common stereotype of how "kiddy" pokemon is.

For a game that is so stereotypically juvenile, Pokemon sure does have a lot of strategy involved. I've been in long discussions about stuff like the best EV spread for a bulky Gyarados and such.

voted yes, just bought platinum, haven't played D&P, but it would be nice to test my EV builds on various people :)
