So I downloaded D2 from Blizzard because my CD's are all scratched. All is well until I try installing the game and it says I need a 26 digit CD-Key, yet mine is only 16 digits, I tried doing my 16 digit cd-key but it's not working.

Diablo II download guide

It says in that thread "To upgrade from Diablo II to Diablo II: Lord of Destruction, simply enter your expansion CD-Key instead of your classic CD-Key" I tried using my LoD 26 digit key and it keeps saying it wont work.

Still in need of help.

Your not gonna be able to use your cd key from the actual store bought cd. There is some key that you have that is linked to your download that you will need to get.
try contacting blizzard or searching for it on your account

Well, If I understand correctly, you still need to Delete your old downloaded D2 and download if again, put your normal d2 cd key in, so your both from the website, should look like

I have this, I have both of the 26 digit keys. It's just in that thread linked to me it says "Instead of using the classic 26 digit cd-key, use the lord of destruction key" I tried using the lord of destruction key and it says that it's invalid.

You have to install it like you use to.
Install classic first with your 26 digit key.
Once that has finished, click on the LOD to install that and use your LOD Cdkey.
Cdkeys may have changed to 26 digits, but you still have to install it the same way as you use to.

I assume youve downloaded both the Classic and LOD from blizzard thru their store?

haha i had that problem to but then i found out .. click check key.. somthing then u will see
