6/10 no wolf of wall street but if you don't have anything better to do, you'll get a little entertainment. Wouldn't watch again though.

The Marvels

Complete trash. Way too much forced nonsense and they had dozens of set up pay off moments where they forgot to do the actual set up so it was just awful. They also immediately dropped so many plot threads without resolving them.

Also they did this whole song part, but for only a single scene then dropped it completely. It was so stupid but I would've respected it if they committed. Instead they did it just to have a stupid musical number in the middle of the movie. If you're going to say "these people only understand song" then hard commit, don't start taking normally and say they are bilingual after the one scene.

There is a podcast called marscorp that did the exact same thing years ago but they hard committed and it was amazing.

The teleport concept was neat but 3s a crowd. Should've kept it to 2. But I understand they needed to shoehorn in the child.

Trying to think of something else positive to say but I'm having trouble...

Not as bad as the rings one, but wouldn't watch it again.

Just watch Stargate the Movie and then follow on with the TV series.... you may get more fun out of it, and then you can add in Stargate Atlantis while waiting for other unsuccessful movies that come out.

Dune 2

Significantly better than the first one but not perfect. Visuals are great, story is intriguing, characters are good for the most part. The action is honestly pretty weak, and I’ll never get over how insanely fucking stupid it is that in a universe where there is space travel, atomic warheads, and lasers that can instantly destroy heavy machinery, everyone fights with medium sized knives. Jesus I get sword fighting is cool but holy shit that is egregious

Spoilers

After Paul drinks the worm goo they just say ‘he can see the future so he knows what decisions to make’ but they do an absolutely terrible job of expressing that in a believable way and he just flips a switch and becomes a different character. Rushed as hell and not compelling in the slightest

Watched two classics for the first time on a plane the other day:

Remember the Titans: 8/10
Very good but a little dramatic for high school football and some questionable acting at times

Rocky 1: 9/10
Really enjoyed it more than I anticipated. Funny, quirky and relatable; a lot different than I was expecting.

Wonder if it's in the books also? Because if it is, you kind of have to give them some slack but yea it was kinda out of place to have technological advanced people engage in medieval brawl with 0 combat strategy.
It wasn't too bad overall. Maybe because the bar is so low for what constitutes a good movie these days
