Star Wars: Episode VIII - The Last Jedi (2017)
I had this on hold since a long time ago... in an external HD, not so far away. Even though I enjoy SW, I never found the motivation to watch this movie until now because I felt very detached from Episode VII and I kept hearing negative opinions about this movie from friends and family. At the end of the day, it wasn't as bad as I expected. In fact I enjoyed it more than The Force Awakens. It's still not a good movie... there are lots of empty plots and characters, nonsensical plot holes, very cringeworthy scenes and humor that really doesn't fit the theme... HOWEVER it does feel like something somewhat fresh and original, the movie takes some interesting paths and risks and they completely redeem Kylo's character (which goes from being a pathetic Jar-Jar Sith to a more complex and serious character).
My main issue with the movie is, beside the awful plot holes, the amounts of irrelevant characters and plot archs in the movie. So many people I don't give a crap about, so many plot elements that are introduced and then thrown away and forgotten, so many unanswered questions that will likely never be addressed... If they just stuck to a main plot, while maybe just touching ONE side plot, the movie would hold together much better. And they should really get rid of the crap Marvel movie hero humour bs.... it really kills the SW mood. I hope that Episode IX fixes these issues, while keeping the intention of creating something original.
