My other theory:

Luffy said, "Ace and I aren't related. His dad was Gol D. Roger."
We also know that Luffy's dad is Dragon, leader of the Resistance.

We know Luffy and Ace can't be related by mothers, since Ace's mom carried him 20 months, then died giving birth.

However....wait for it.

DRAGON IS GOL D. ROGER.

So they actually ARE brothers.

I just blew your mind.

Rayleigh has been in hiding, but all he said was, "Gold Roger is dead." That could mean more than just, "Sorry, Gol is a goner." It could mean, "The character of Gol D. Roger has been retired."

Gold Roger is pulling a Tupac, imo.

Besides, he said, "Rayleigh, don't worry. I won't die." or "I'll live on" or something to that effect.

the only relationship between gold d roger and the monkeys is that garp had intense battles chasing around gold d roger creating some sort of friendship / rivalry , making gold d roger ask him to take his son, ace and luffy is his grandson, so they are brothers but not by blood!

so gol d roger had garp look after his one son and not his other?
that right there makes me disagree.
and when roger said he'll live on, i always thought it was in spirit.
because the reason he turned himself in was because he was terminally ill

it was because it was the start of a new era!

and he was going to die anyways!

Roger is dead, and that's what makes the series great.
