The LeapopperA hybrid build of Leap, Find Item, and BO/Shout.Stats- Strength - Enough for gear. The most you could need is 100 geared for silks, or possibly 133 if you have a really nice pavise. You can get up to 20 from your belt, 20 from your amulet, and 20 from each weapon, but likely you'll add some strength.
- Dexterity - None. There is no need at all for it on this build.
- Vitality - Everything you didn't put into strength. You should be getting 400+ vitality on this barb.
- Energy - If you even thought of adding this, kill yourself
SkillsWarcries:- 1 Howl (prereq)
- 20 Battle Orders
- 20 Shout
- 1 Battle Command
- 1 Find Potion
- xx Find Item*
Combat Masteries- 1 Increased Stamina (prereq)
- 1 Iron Skin (prereq)
- xx Increased Speed*
- xx Natural Resistance*
Combat Skills**Leap should be a minimum of level 11 with gear. The radius of the skill levels is:
- 11 = 14.6 Yards
- 13 = 15.3 Yards
- 14 = 16.0 Yards
- 17 = 16.6 Yards
- 21 = 17.3 Yards
- 26 = 18.0 Yards
*Your final level on these skills with gear and BC should be:
Find Item: Level 18 = 50%
Increased Speed: Level 6 = 30% or Level 14 = 40% (If you have more +skills from gear, go for 14, If you have less, go for 6, this is a lower priority skill, just put one to start and finish it last)
Natural Resistance: Level 13 = 60%, or more points for more, Level 25 is only 70% so beware of diminishing gains, Level 16 is the highest you should go unless you're done with the other skills and just want more resist.
ItemsWeapon(s)- +2 Barb Weapon (BO Stick) with Strength/Resist(s) if possible. Fire+Light are desirable
- Gull - 100MF, also easy to switch on from BO sticks
- The Patriarch - Strictly for a pure goldfind variation
Shield - Shield is optional, two weapons are better for skills as leap and massive life can keep you safe
- Rare 30/20 Pris shield, FHR and stacked resists optional but recommended, more block is better (Bone/Grim+Tower/Pavise are best, though the latter slow you 10%)
- Sigon's Guard - 69% Block and +1 skills, can be a nice tank option at lower levels
- Bverrit Keep - 59% and 75FR, this is the dirt cheap option
- The Ward - Up to 50 all resists, a cheap option, but also not a terrible choice if you want pure MF off the rest of your gear. Using a low one is not recommended
Armor- Silks of the Victor - +1 skills, plus decent defense
- Goldskin - 35 all resists, plus 100%GF for a goldfind variation
- Rare Ornate Plate for a defense tank variation, topaz socketed
Helmet- Tarnhelm - +1 skills and up to 50MF and standard 75GF. Recommended
- 3 Socket Topaz'd Helm - 72MF, but not recommended because Tarn gives +1
Belt- Goldwrap - 30MF and 80GF
- Rare belt with 24FHR, Strength, Life, and Resists - if you're not getting all of these, I recommend going for Goldwrap
Gloves- Chance Guards - Up to 40MF, and 200GF is quite useful
- Rare Gloves with MF + Resists - Less MF but if you need resists, then you can look here. Not as desirable as on a WW barb because you don't need leech
Boots- Rare Boots with FRW and as many of these mods as possible: FHR, MF, FR, LR, CR, GF - FRW is essential if you're running around CS
Amulet- Rare Amulet with +1 or +2 Barb, resistances being a nice bonus, as is MF or GF, and Strength or life. Using a rare amulet without skills is not recommended because the +skills boosts a lot in this build, including your life and defense giving capability
- The Eye of Etlich - If you're using this you will find a better one very quickly. Not recommended unless you do'nt have anything else
- Nokozan Relic - The ultra-cheap amulet that can save your *** if the rest of your gear sucks. FHR/FR and the max FR boost can help, but you really want the first choice as soon as it's available
Rings- The Stone Of Jordan - +1 skills, and mana won't hurt you either. Great if you're looking to max BO/shout or want a defense tank
- Magic ring with high MF - basically a higher Nagelring
- Nagelring - Pure MF, but no other mods, still a good choice
- Rare ring with MF and/or GF, for goldfind builds, or if you want to be able to get some strength or resists from your rings, not recommended for pure MF builds, but if you've built MF barbs before and know how you want your numbers balanced, this will work
UsageThis build does not kill. It is meant as a CS barb, and it helps tank, it gives BO and shout, it pops corpses for items, and it leaps to hold mobs back, all of which are perks of other builds, but never all in one. I designed this build after many CS runs on many BvBs with 31 Shout+BO and enough +skills to make leap useful, but still not able to pop corpses or tank much because of the lack of resists with all the BO gear. This is a better CS barb than all those MFers who never really used their attack anyway.
Leap is more useful than ever with fewer strong CS runs, with weaker parties it can hold monsters back while they are killed, and it gives the huge life and defense bonuses. And you have all the benefits of Find Item, which will make you rich.
As a variation of the build, you can keep the other skills to a minimum and pump Iron Skin, wear an Ornate and Grim Shield (and possibly a Grim Helm) and pull off 12k+ Defense while CSing and finding items, and still able to have +7 while doing it
