Tested some old gpus for kicks
XFX Radeon HD7970 Ghost:
Really slick design. Probably my favorite out of the older cards. Was unable to get playable framerates on any new games. Even with FSR the 3GB of vram isn't enough. Older games like GTA5 and Diablo 3 ran ok at 1600x1050.
MSI GeForce GTX 780 Twin Frozr:
Running into the same problem as the HD7970. Not enough Vram. This one was actually left over from my computer in 2013.
EVGA GeForce GTX 980 SC:
Another oldie but Goldie. Nothing special by design. Ran newer titles fairly at 1600x900 with FSR.
MSI GeForce GTX 1080ti Gaming X:
Still playable today at 1440p. Upscaling tech had to be used in Cyberpunk and Lords of the Fallen to get a smoother experience. DLSS is unusable
Powercolor Radeon RX 5700XT Red Dragon:
Very slick design. Similar situation as the 1080ti. Newer games at higher resolution requires FSR for a smooth experience
I think driver support on the two oldest cards was my main problem. I couldn't launch any new new games at all
Tested a few others but nothing noteworthy.
