so after some years it is time for me to renew my pc a bit and im looking for some input on direction.

I currently have a gen7 intel i7 7700k @ 4.20GHz paired with a msi tomahawk h270 with 32gb ddr4 2400mhz.

it runs and operates fine but its time and ive got a few extra bucks so, I am wanting to upgrade to an 11th gen intel i7 or i9?? and some sort of nice gaming board to mate it too along with proper ram.

This stuff kinda goes over my head so any help is appreciated and if you need any more info let me know. I have a nice 1080ti evga gtx/800w psu and a mid/atx Roswell case if it helps with anything.

Thank you!

Those are one tier godlier than me. I wouldn’t upgrade unless for atleast a 1000 dollars 4060 computer at Costco with the latest i5. I have an i7 ddr3 16 gb ram with rx580 equal to 1070.

What are your goals with upgrading?

Heavy gaming / multi tasking. - I am running 3 monitors with a constant flow of work stuff/fun stuff/game stuff

Like I said current setup works, its fast - but I am able to max out my cpu if I want.. Running 8 copies of d2r reallllllly bottlenecks it lol.

Unless maybe I have a hardware bottleneck happening that I am not aware of, I can post my CPU-Z system specs if you guys would like just lmk.

Go i5-12600kf or i7-12700kf, they are both really cheap currently, either option still perform well for gaming. You can get a nice board that supports either ddr4 or ddr5, if you wanted to reuse your ram, ddr5 is obviously the recommended upgrade path.

1080ti will be your biggest bottleneck at this point.

Does changing D2R to old gfx make any difference?

Here’s a rough draft of some upgrades. You may need to buy a compatible cooler but you can adjust the parts according to your budget :)
You may also need more RAM than 32, so see how it does & upgrade accordingly

I do currently have an evga large cooler so this works perfect, I looked and read reviews on the items you listed here and it looks perfect for me, thank you for your time doing that.

/ side note, i have been seeing lots of youtubes and tiktoks on newer fan kits that are connected with magnets i think? eliminating lots of cabling in my case.. I would love to do this if anyone can point me in a direction for a nice kit?

Yep no problem!
Sadly not experienced with the new fan kits, I still need to upgrade myself to something more modern but I just haven’t had a reason to justify the price
Thanks for the tip!

Upgrade CPU 17% performance increase. ( Same CPU socket ) , Get Grizzly or Noctual thermal paste.
intel i7 7700k to i9 9900k

Budget Faster ram cards 3200hz
18CL is bad
16CL is good
14CL is great

Not really going to be anything better without basically doing a whole new computer build.
Anything newer is going to require all sorts of new parts for compatibility , and not a giant upgrade if doing a budget.
