Friends kid is building his first PC and asking for help, so here I am lol.

Wondering what the best setup for around $1k is - he has a monitor/key board/mouse already.

I think he mostly plays FPS games, probably fortnite and not sure what else.

E: solid build, can be tweaked for z690/z790 for overclocking and ddr5 but it will cost a little more.

Most of the guys at Canada Computers can help

They can, but they always try to offer up crap they are promoting or get some sorta commission on or something they are pushing to sell. At least the reps walking the floor.. They know their stuff but always seem to push you into their markup without being actually transparent. Not saying their bad just be mindful when speaking to them, go to the tech department first and ask on builds.
