When will gaming rigs actually get incredible performance but with low wattage? hoped the intel gpus might be something special in this regard but who knows.

Wont happen.. Everything changing requires more demand which means more power. AMD is probably the only thing close to lower wattage and higher performance. The worst part is even to this day games are just not optimized for that much power and need really.. However with unreal engine that might change.

yea exactly, i still use gtx 1080 and runs most games fine at 1440p i just have to dial down the most demanding detail settings a bit.

This question is a bit subjective :), I think we are entering the era of incredible performance with low wattage. For example, Steam Deck OLED can play titles like Cyberpunk at 15W. Asus ROG Ally 30W. Was seeing Steam Deck can decode HEVC ~0.3ms, faster than Nvidia Shield ~2.7ms

That is also true. I think it depends on the software and optimization.
