No, desktop wifi comes from the card in the MOBO and is very weak.(signal strength) Its good if your router is close to the pc but other than that if you want to use wifi on your desktop you should look into range extensions. You can get them for your pc or your router. I'd consider a hard wired connection if you can do it. New mobos have wifi 6 now now but they just have very weak signal strength so your router should be close.
