Sderot and possibly other locations were overrun with Hamas militants who went door to door killing the local jews, taking women as captives and parading dead bodies around. Its impossible to know how many have been killed or wounded so far, and the best source we've got is endless social media threads showing dead Israelis and Palestinians driving around with the bodies of naked women in their jeeps.

At this point its clearly the biggest invasion of Israel since the 1973 Yom Kippur War, the biggest failure of Israeli intelligence as they got taken completely unaware and the border completely overrun in a surprise attack. And in the past few minutes Netenyahu has declared that Israel is at war, with a mobilization and airstrikes already in progress as we're braced for something that will completely dwarf all previous Israeli-Palestinian flareups.
