The difficulty for most of us on here is we have read the books or played the game. In my case read the books.
Its hard to shut your brain off and not compare.
Its like that with any adaptation though. Its not many shows where you say, that show was as good as the book, likewise for movies. Movies it's very understandable why they typically turn out trash since you're trying to condense these big novels into a 2-hour film. Shows have similar issues for long novels but should be able to do it better with 8-15 hours of showtime to work with. The Witcher in my opinion has not utilized that time well and has not really developed a fantasy world. Factions are not fleshed out, characters have been heavily altered to the point where they don't resemble the source material and they don't end up making any sense at all, nor do their actions.
