I have recently started my playthrough of Dragon's Dogma in anticipation of the release of the second game.
It's more action pased but I can definitely recommend giving it a go as it has a lot of innovative systems.

If you're into MMORPG's then Ravendawn just released and might hit the spot if aren't looking for a story driven game.
