this is just for fun so i can link a friend to this later on,

i just like this argument

so lets have some fun with ez math

does .99999.... =  1  ?

i can do many proofs of this lets see how many i can get here

the only way it equals 1 is rounding up.

The reason it doesn't make sense is because you're thinking about it physically.  Mathematical surface area (e: and volume actually) isn't quite what you think of physically.  It's a pretty good approximation most of the time though (this is one of those times when it isn't).

well before I wasn't thinking of it physically then you threw Planck at me.
But now back to math, I can see the limited volume, but why isn't there a limit to the area?

Doesn't it just become insignificant? Like adding 1/2 + 1/4 + 1/8 .... limit approaches 1, with the volume limit approaches a finite value but the area does not!?!?! ='[

e;\ I see the math but well actually yeah... I'm still thinking of it physically =[

Here is another way of how it can equal 1.
0.999... + 0.000... with a 1 on the end = 1
You can't argue that or else you're just a troll.
But 0.000... with a 1 on the end goes on forever with 0's and therefore the 1 never reaches, thus making it 0.
0.999... does not move at all, therefore does not go up to reach 1 as it is just 1 number and does not change in anyway.
So what appears to be 0.999... + 0.000... 1 is actually 1+0 which is 1.

If I use your $100 bill as an example of your wierd logic. If I snip a part off and leave 0.99999999999999999999...... remaining of the bill then the bill isn't a whole is it?

If I cut off 1 degrees off a circle making the revolution only 359 degrees then the circle isn't whole isn't it? Which then we'd use the dimensioning in radius. Only use diameter if the circle is a full revolution of 360 degrees.

Even if the slightest of pieces of something is taken off then that entire thing isn't a whole anymore. Your body isn't a whole because you snip off your hair and finger nails. You yourself aren't 1, you are more like .9999999999999999999999999999999999999999999...

LOL are you for real?
Okay then cut off a piece of a $100 bill and leave 0.999...
However much you cut off, no matter how small, will have left you with less than 0.999... of the note left.

You want me to post the results on here? It has been here all along. As a matter of fact it is on this very page.

Look at this post and you'll see what I am talking about, with regards to that $100 bill.
