i just started playing again and was wondering when the next ladder season is gonna start or how long this one is in

Not exactly sure how long this one's been going, but, there has not been a date posted for the new one yet. Been close to 2 years, or 1 year, I think.

Lastest news from Blizz, Friday:

well they said that the new ladder season would come with the new patch, and their now testing classic d2 for the patch so lod must be done so it will probably be next month

There is no official announce yet.
But i think in the next 4 weeks there is a reset. =)

in arround 4-5weeks should we have the reset yeah

They're not testing the patch for classic. ClassicBeta is just the name of the public test realm.
