I always see pictures of earth from astronauts/machines but I never see stars in the background.
Does such a picture exist?
I just want to know what it looks like

generally no.

the reason for this is because the earth reflects a lot of light. its like pointing a high powered flood light as a single led bulb...you won't see the single led anymore.

you could always photoshop some stars in there

edit:
that doesnt address the point of this thread at all though, lmao.

but you would expect that since you do see dark spaces, if you expose long enough you should perhaps capture some stars in the space? or would you just get totally overexposed?

hmmm. what about taking pictures of just stars from the moon? earth not in the picture. is there a picture of this? probably have to be taken from the dark side of the moon though.

it would work the same way on earth. as long as its dark you could see and photograph the stars.

however you couldn't have any of the moons surface in the picture because it would be too bright as long as its visible pretty much.

Unless you had some kind of insane lens that costs more than several houses or more, it wouldn't be able to let in enough light to pick up the light from the stars, as the earth reflects so much light that the light from the stars gets "pushed away" and "merges" with the reflected light. Not really accurate, but gives an idea of what happens.
