Ok, I have received so many pm's about the realm down issue. I have had my little tool to help me out of this for a very long time. It's very helpful and will literally fix your realm down instantly.

This freeware program promises to encrypt all your Internet connections, but since most public wi-fi access points in the U.S. are open, it's a bit hard to gauge Hotspot Shield's effectiveness. However, the connection itself is a bit wonky.

Once the program is installed, it creates an HTML link on your desktop. Double-clicking on it will open the application in your Web browser, and you'll be taken to a page detailing your Connection Status, IP Address, Server Address, Bytes sent and received, and the duration of the connection. Hotspot Shield is ad supported, so you'll get a big banner ad that lives at the top of every Web page, too. Closing the tab with the app's control panel doesn't disconnect the shield, though: for that, or to reload the control panel, you have to go through the green shield icon that gets loaded into your system tray. Also, there's a 5 GB transfer limit.

Overall, we can't give Hotspot Shield a strong recommendation, but as a last resort it might be worth trying out.

Steps:

First:
Go to Google and search "Hotspot Shield Download":

Second:
After you have located the cnet link, follow the installation directions.
**I chose the one from the cnet website. Always safe and vouched by editors.**
(Cnet link should be the second one down, granted you followed step one)

Third:
After everything is finished there should either be a desktop icon or it ran automatically. Once it is running, go to taskbar and you should either see a green symbol or a red one that slightly resembles a shield.

(AFTER YOU HAVE R/D EXIT DIABLO 2 ALTOGETHER THEN PROCEED WITH THE DIRECTIONS BELOW)

IF RED:
Right click and go to "Connect/ON". After this you will be presented with a web page showing you that the program is working. After the web page displays "CONNECTED" you can exit it. After this step open d2 and proceed with login r/d free.

IF GREEN:
Right click and locate "disconnect/OFF" and press it. This will turn your shield red. After r/d has occurred, then follow the "IF RED" step.

Fourth:
After you have verified you're not r/d'd anymore you can continue to play. It's always positive to enjoy playing without the assistance of a program so check every once in awhile to see if you're no longer suffering from r/d. The only downfall is, this program will lower your transfer limit as stated above, so d2 maybe a little choppy but not enough to really worry about.

Some common problems
1) It will get stuck on "connecting to fastest servers" - Restart d2 and try again, if it persists reconnect to Hotspot Shield.
2) Failing to join games - This is a complicated problem and cannot be resolved. I suggest you make a game. (Doesn't happen "Often")
3) A little lag with gameplay - This is normal, you will have a limited transfer limit while using this program. It shouldn't effect you to bad.

Some VID proof:

ALSO THIS MAY WORK WITH TEMP BANS! HAVEN'T TRIED YET!

It works like he said. But it's not good enough for me.

I need to run these bots, this isn't letting me. They keep dropping. I need a sure fine fix. Not a temp.

But very good and easy fix.

This is GG for fixing R/D if all you're doing is running 1 instance of D2 and playing casually. However, as SIGSays stated above, this will not cut it for anyone trying to run multiple bots with short game times while avoiding R/D completely.

Nice tut regardless.

I have 3 bots... that do the same run. I'm experiencing some really bad cuts. But it also depends on the speed of the proxy or whatever I guess.
Works good when you want to do a trade, or get R/D when muling yourself. This will do the job.
