I would say more the act 2 mercenary in nightmare via the Thorn one. He has a good defence against physical damages and might aura won't help as many as Thorn aura because your main character will do enough damages with his multiple elemental aura.

Rofl. No

Might, holy freeze or defiance, what you prefer.
I dont think might increases the eledmg of vengeance, see Goomshills post... only weapon dmg, min max charms/items and skilllvl of vengeance...

Which merc to use with these equipment?

Reaper's Toll, Might merc.

Don't fall into the trap of getting too bogged down by the elemental damage, much like how a PvM Fury Druid will use the exact same setup as a Fireclaw build with eTomb, you build an Avenger like a Zealot.

The only difference is you use a weapon like eDeath or eBotD instead of Grief, but the other gear is pretty much the same.

Remember, an Avenger is a quad element damage build (fire, cold, lightning and physical) with the addition of crushing blow from Gores and Gulli, like most other melee characters. It is not just a fire, cold and lightning, tri element build.

You can play around with the setup and adjust for the attack speed and FHR, but it's something like this:

Breath of the Dying
Forti / Eni
Gulli
HoZ
Gores
LoH / Dracs
String
Highlord's
Ravenfrost

The best option available for this build would be an auradin with :

1. Doom BA
2. Dragon armour
3. Dream helmet
4.1 Phoenix (if you can have enough hrs)
4.2 Hoz (if you cannot get these runes)

this is wrong. Vengeance doesn't multiply those elemental damages so they are pretty plain additions.

U should go with something like this.

When I made avenger I used:

eth ba botd --> Very high dmg, add ias, add manaleech. Best choice and could be the only one even to consider.
CoH dusk --> +sk and survive. Enigma and forti can be as good tho.
CoA --> CoA has it all. I think u could manage even with shako. Guillaumes is always to consider.
HoZ --> +sk +block +allres. Best choice here.
Verdungo --> CoA and dungo maxes dr (if you use eni/coh that is). String of Ears will work aswell.
Ravenfrost --> cannot be frozen.
Rare Ring with stats + min/max --> I think soj / bk will work great too.
War Travelers --> Maxing solid dmg output. I think Gores and goblintoes will work aswell.
Crushing blow gloves --> Pretty much for crushing blow and stats. Various good choices here. Even draculs will work.
Maras Kaleidoskope --> sk stats res. I think Using highlords or actually any other will be a disservice for your avenger. U don't need additional ias, at least if you follow this building.
Switching with CTA spirit ofc.

This is where it gets interesting: Choosing mercenary. U have 2 choices:
1. a2 merc with infinity (yes conviction is AWESOME), and use Fanaticism on your main character. You need at least lvl7 fanaticism to hit highest ias bp with using only ias provided from botd. I found this bad choice, because without enigma it is hard to keep him alive and control his position to get conviction to creeps u wanna kill.
2. a1 merc with Faith. This was my n1 choice. Faith can have absolutely any stats and ur avenger will slash highest ias bp. Now u use conviction aura on your main character. You can optimize the lvl to wanted -res (while infi is always only lvl12), this contributes to your destructive force. a1 merc is tiny bit better at survival and it doesn't even matter that she won't be present all the time. U still 1-2hit a monster.

For your inventory.
Paladin torch --> Duh.
Tbh I didn't get as far as testing PC or Max ar, but while Vengeance relies on you having high ar, I would suggest you using Max ar charms. I believe 10max gives higher dmg output than 1pc. (I think I calculated this on low end, but not entirely sure how it turns out on high end). Anyway added attackrating will make things more smooth.

Did I miss something? :D
