you can try 36/20 ar small charms, esp if ur bva is going to do some serious toe to toe with other bvcs bvbs or bvas.
jewels dont necessary need to be 40/9 dex
they can be something like 7/30/9/9, which allows u to use a high def fort, SS, COA, without enigma.
Good stats should look roughly like:
7k life
12000 ar without angelics (20k with angelics)
max block
40+ dr on most setups
and about 100+ res in cold lite and fire on vs casters setup.
Points should be shifted from BvC Leap builds to shout/iron skin, without shout and iron skin, your defense will be capped at 10k, which will make you minced meat in bvb duels or other bvas.
FHR should never fall below 27 no matter what. anything lower will seriously hinder your ability to recover. On most setups you should be looking at the 48 fhr.
boosting str and AR in inventory choice/jewels helps vs certain builds where life, dr, and AR matter a great deal. VS high def paladins (most or 2nd most common dueling char, bvb with shield, or other bvcs.
investing in a good rare amulet that has +2,fcr,dex,res,life,str (in this priority of importance)
Here was my build:
Standard Gear:
griefz
beastz
Bercham Coa (choose berber if you're always going to insist on ravens, but this prevents you to swap in hilords without penalty to fcr, as well as angelics against chars with cold damage)
10 fcr rare amulet (stacked res is must. Otherwise, use Hilords. This puts DS at about 60%, which with masteries Crit, comes close to 80-90% double damage hits)
DS nigma
Dungos
10 fcr life dex all res ring
perf ravens (if using hilords, swap for another 10 fcr life dex res dex ring)
rare gloves (dont need 20 IAS, look for 15/15, high def, resists. Gloves like draculs are good with OW, but make you lose 100-200 life in dex points for MB. When you actually really need the damage, you will swap in fort)
rare res boots (helps minimize on res charms so that you can focus them to AR. 10 or 20 fhr both puts you into 48fhr breakpoint)
2x dooms or wc weapons on switch
37x 36/20 scs.
torch
anni
END:
still very high damage from grief beastz. certain damage items such as OW and 3/20/20s are swapped for more AR, which basically equalizes the effect of OW, esp on chars such as dins, this BVA whirls with much more hits than standard BvCs.
46 DR
20 fcr on either setup
high res gear from either setups
48 fhr on either setups
roughly max block on either builds (swap beast for ed/dex/str/-req (or res) jewel'd SS if there is a very wide mix of characters)
Choose hilords if there are more barbs, dins, WW sins of sorts, and lastly melee type druids.
otherwise, choose fcr amulet.
Stash:
AP Fort (I know bvb uses SA or other hi str def armors, but thats pure BVB and will leave u too low on life for caster duels)
WidowMaker (not really necessary)
SS with dex/res/life/-req gear (the -req will help you with life and open up gear choices such as upped gores)
Arreats with ed/9/9
trangs
5 res scs (vs multi element teams/ team duels)
5 fhr scs (vs necros)
sorb gear
Upped Gores
Dueling strategy:
Vs pure melee chars:
swap in arreats, angelics or hilords, SS, Gores.
Whirl em. There should be very little way for you to lose with the right combo of items, save against another pure BVB WW'er thats very very very stacked.
Vs Din casters or hybrids:
Dungos if they might smite or charge you. (Hdin desynchs dont count)
Swap Beast for Doom if you have too much problem with them teleporting/desycnh charging
Swap Fort in vs pure hdins or hdin charge smiters. Other hybrids always use enigma (this is to namelock tele WW deysnching v/t t/v fohers)
Vs BM casters, FC zons:
swap in 2x dooms, arach, 10x 20/5s, suitable sorb gear.
you probably do not need more than 1 piece of sorb in absolutely any situation. If you lose, then its more likely due to their better set of skills. practice namelocking.
They should die EZ. Very very very easy. You're fhr should be at 48 bp, which makes stunlocks rare.
only exception here are BM ES MB cold sorcs with freezing auras.
use 2x ravens, trangs, arach, Doom, and SS.
VS Necros:
These are your worst enemy.
They can either spirit/spear u to death in a few shots, stack creeps to dodge WW damage, or poison your life away in seconds.
They can almost always tank a few good WW's or berserk hits.
They slow you, through golems and curses.
Use hilords without exception.
antidote potions help.
swap to 86 fhr gear. Each tiny frame makes a difference against possible IBS/spear combos. (ibs hits you, then spears hit you, then ibs again... continues to lock you in recovery till death), swap beast to doom or play defensive and use widowmaker.
VS others:
should be good with standard gear
if you have questions. PM me.
General Playing Style:
The more evasive the better. You are not a BvC, and you do not have leap to put them into recovery/knockback animation for leap tele ww stomps. Wait until they come close, and AA them down. Right at the moment you believe that they are going to tele away, cast your teleport. Your teleport should be just a few frames after theirs, not before (you want to catch them as they come out of the tele) and WW them down.
If you think that someone is going to tele stomp you or nearby, WW away or towards where you think they will land accordingly. Hammers at 7-8 direction. Nado druids clockwise triwhirls. Necros, short whirl and tele away to wall sections or other rocks/debris to block IBS/spears and to evade psn nova as the nova travels slowly. Sorcs, triwhirl. Trap/hybrid sins, away from traps or dodging of traps, and tele/run away. v/ts and tele smiters (switch to doom before they get close to you to slow down smite attackspeed. switch back to griefz/beastz and ww away) if they try to tele away or charge away to foh you or hammer you, they are slowed by your doomz and its an opening for you to tele whirl them.
CS zons:
Just whirl them. If you have difficulty, get sorb and switch beastz for doomz.
Bowa/hybrids:
Get your SS, or if they jump you or spam at gates, switch to 2x dooms and run them down. You have too much DR and life for them to kill you fast enough.
Interesting Playing Tips and Little strategies:
1. The Chicken
Teleport a million miles away from your enemy. They will pursue you with teleports. Gauge your distance between you and them and whether they make long or short teleports and in roughly what direction. Make a long whirlwind immediately as you teleport far away right as you emerg from tele. Chances are they might land in it for teleporting too fast. You can also tele towards them suddenly such as like this:
X: you
Y: Them
-: distance
X': your tele target
Y': they're tele target
W: whirling direction
they are chasing you via tele, and you've been teleporting to the left.
X---------------------------------------------Y
you change tele directions from running to towards them.
X--------------------X'---Y'------------------Y
you whirl towards them as they emerge from teleport.
---------------------XWWYWW--------------
