learn to read

no, you learn to get good. stay out of range so it doesn't matter if meteor kills a few mobs since you're far from his tiny ce radius. besides, you know meteor will hit, where blizz it's a gamble and lower damage anyway.

Confusion arose, because Bojana believes the OP mistook PDR for poison resist, so to clarify:

IDR/PDR: (Integer/Physical) Damage Reduced by #
PR +%: Poison Resist +%

Nature's Peace Ring supplies both, and both are important against those pesky Tomb Viper serpents in the Halls of Vaught.

let's break it down now

nature's peace is great, if you can get one
but as far as ladder is concerned, once they become affordable, dkeys aren't worth farming

I've run nihla tons of times without natures peace, without lots of pdr, on low level (under 80) with untwinked gear.
dealing with snakes: poison res is important; plr is too. if you get those amp witches then you're going to need a lot of pdr to counteract their damage, add archers to the mix and you've got a mess on your hands.

for low geared sorceress, mete-orb is your best option. nihla can spawn immune to fire, lit or cold. don't count on your merc to kill him, merc does very little damage so that eliminates pure lightning or blizzard builds. imo hybrid blizzard takes too long to kill him with low gear, nihla needs to be a quick in and out sort of job.

nihla is butter for a necro.
barb is good low budget runner, all you need is a decent weapon and maxed howl and 1 in leap attack.
amazons do great too, dodge skills are awesome and they deal good damage with crap gear
paladins can do it with ease since redemption, but you have to take some care, you don't have crowd control like a barb or necro
rest of the classes take some finesse or good gear

Personally I just teleport in to a clear patch, kill any dangerous monsters nearby with orb/ball, then draw out Nihlathak's monsters then either stomp Nihlathak or take him out from a distance.

I find this method is safe, and not too slow.

On previous ladders when I made a char especially for it (with a view to making some easy fg) I used a barb and did as Jink said: howl away the surrounding monsters, then just leap to Nihlathak and simply kill him. You can add safety by casting life tap with a wand.

Can also try luring themonsters away. Was an easy way to deal with him for me at start of ladder. Lure away -> kill -> stand in area with no corpses(usually behind him) -> kill.
