For completeness something on " Spear Damage " would be good.
Its often important that it only takes 4 spears to kill an opponent, so if you had the actual life taken away ( after 8 abs ) from common spear levels that'd be the n1 one.
Heres for spears / hammers, these values are +- (3-8)*2 dmg depending on if your using a spirit though. Better explained by jeebus at the bottom.

Yep, its basically just magic damage * 0.17 - 16. So your formula should work with 0 res.
Altho, in hammers case it'll be -8 for half of the hits, as absorb only works at " half effectiveness " when your on full life.

Yea true, its more a deal for spears tho.
Say you are up against a super item lame 4180 life nec ( seen some like this

) and you're against a nec with 6200 spear damage.
6200 * 0.17 - 8 = 1046
6200*0.17 - 16 = 1038
First spear would fhr 75% of the time, but the 2nd spear damage would fhr 37.5% of the time vs an opponent with exactly 4180 k life.
