Bui's Hybrid Assassin Guide
_____________________________________________________

Introduction:

Hi, I'm Bui and my specialty is on assassins. My sins are Oni and Bui. (This Guide is of my Hybrid Sin Bui, Not my Ghost sin Oni)

As of now, I currently hold #1 spot for sin vs sin on D2GM, D2duel, EzPk, Postabout. And For All Class vs all Class ladders, I hope #1 spot in D2GM, and D2Duel. This guide will allow you to make a Hybrid Assassin like mine. Unlike Ghost Assassins, Hybrid sins tend to rely on a combination of traps as well as ww to win in a duel. This allows them to use 2 methods of attacks as opposed to a Ghost sin's 1 method. However because of that, a hybrid assassin tends to have a little less damage and less ar. However, this is where they main key comes into play.

A what makes a good hybrid sin is BALANCE. Too much ww damage will mean you lose somethin, and too much trap damage will mean you lost something else. While Traps tend to help more in pubbing, when it comes to 1v1, your wwing will be used as a primary attack with traps to assist. I have come up with a good combination that has been serving me for a long time. With that in mind, lets get going with the actual guide.

My Sin As of Now has (@ lvl 96):
4.6k life sin vs all (5k life sin vs sin)
5k ar with fury on (13k with fools on)
4.2+ ww damage (Keep in mind this is very high physical damage from a glitched claw and not just venom as most sins have, so it is very effective even though it may not sound like a lot)
5.5k trap damage
50%dr (with bm sorb/resist setup on)
65% fcr
30% fhr (27fhr is the bp)
Blade Shield (Many hybrid sins do not get this skill, but it helps greatly in sin vs sin)
Max Resists in Hell (stacked)
______________________________________________________

Through-out this guide. I will go over such things as;

What is the best fcr:
- 45% vs 65% fcr

How can I boost my AR?
- Demon Limb
- Fools claw

Fools-claw
- What is best? (2sin skills, 3 light sentry, 40% ias, 2 socs, base kb, 250+ed, eth/self repair)
- Knockback Works with ww and can be obtained as an automod (bear) or by Nef rune.
- The more % OW the better. (if knockback is not automod, consider socketing Nef of the cost of 1 or 2 UM.
- IMO Knockback is more useful then 50-100 damage because the only time you would use a fools claw over a fury is vs nice Tele-smiters and synching hdins.

Fade
- What are the benefits of Fade? (curse reduction, DR and resists)
- How exactly does the hidden bonus works?
- How many point are needed to keep 50% DR?

Mind-blast and Tricks Related to using it

How do I stun-lock? Vs who does it work? Vs who doesnt?

What level of claw block is best without deminishing returns?

Gear:

Helm: [Circlet, Shako]

Circlet (ber'd and 20/15 or jewel of choice)
Try to aim for a +2 Assassin/20 fcr/2open sockets/Ar based on char lvl, res, life. (mods such as dex and str are not important because what if you need to take off circlet to sin vs sin (shako) or sorb with kiras
best to my opinion right behind a 08 valk. Try shael/jah or Jah/jah if you got the FHR already. The ber rune will save you 8 pts in fade to use in traps to boost trap damage.

Shako
Tons of life, tons of mana, 10dr (no need ber), free socet to put whatever you want (i recommend a jah or 20/15 jewel)

08 Valk? (DO NOT USE)
Gives FRW,FHR,IAS,FCR.. All in 1 helm.. HOWEVER, We are a Hybrid sin not a ghost sin... we need all the +2skills and res we can get

Armor:

Enigma

This is the main part of your build. It gives you the str needed to wear. Try to aim for MP or Gothic (it will slow down your walk speed but some people like it for style)

Belt:

Arachnids. This is your only choice. The 20% FCR and skill is a MUST

Rings:

Ravens, You can wear 2x 200+/20dex ravens, and get the dex required for your sin.

Get a nice 10 fcr ring, with +100~ish AR and life/res.

Gloves:

Trang-oul gloves, Gives FCR, cold resists, and Psn dmg (+25%)
These gloves are also a MUST.

Boots:
[Possible boots; Bitters, Soul shanks, Shadow Dancers,]

*Bitter Brouges- less res than soul shanks but more stats to allow switch to bramble and sorb gear
*Soul shanks- Stats, and STACKED resists, all 45+ except psn.
*Shadow Dancers, 30fhr, 2 skills, 25dex all in 1 boot

Amulet:

Stormhide. This is your only possible amulet with this build.

Claws:

[I only recommend 3 types of claws]

*Feral claw- Second fastest claw in game, (113 str/113 dex req)
*Suwayyah- low stat req, slow trap speed (99str/99dex req)
*Glitch Chaos - more damage, no need to repair (89str/89 dex req)

Stashed-Gear;
- AR-gear (fools claw etc.)
- 100% LR Kiras (20life/15res)
- Hotspurs
- Thundergods
- Wisp and Dwarf
- 20/5's
- Bramble/Pre buff venom gear.

What Bui recommends

*Helm- 2sin, 20fcr, 30frw, ar on char lvl, base life, base res, 2 socs
*Armor- Enigma
*Ammy- Storm hide
*Boots- Shadow Dancers
*Rings- 1 raven, 1x 10%fcr ring with ar, res, life, str
*Gloves- Trangs
*Belt- Arachs
*Claws- Glitched Suwayyah Chaos claw, Suwayyah fury claw with 3light sentry, 3 dragon flight, 3 Weapon Block

I use the Chaos/Fury suwayyah setup because at lvl 96 (my sin: Bui) gives higher open wounds dmg and better min damage than ferals. Ferals allow you to reach top trap laying speed but you will realize that that is only 2nd in importance when compared to a good steady damage. Ferals are ok, but Suwayyahs are better

+3 Venom claws?
Only use them if you are using 2x claws (aka 6+ venom because you get 3+ from each claw)
Otherwise, if you use 1 gclaw like I use, you can simply switch to cta/spirit for bo and get +3 skills from there so the +3 venom isnt needed.

Charms:

Shadow Gcs (9x) (Lifers are better than non lifers)
Torch (20/x)
Anni (20/x)
10x SC's (3/20/20s or 20/5's or life/res charms) I use both, Switching back and forth depending on who I duel, 5/5 usually (5x 3/20/20s, 5x 20/5's)

Try to aim 40+ Life in GCs
These are helpful because more life=higher bo.

Try to get 20 stat anni and torch. Your resistance should be fine, stats > resist

Stat Distribution:

Base str (Storm hide+Anni will be able to give you enough str for an nigma)
Base Dex (Raven, Boots, Ammy, anni will give you your dex for the gear)
500+ Vita (the point of the ghost is mass life, So try to at least get 4k+ Life) - I use 4.6k life sin vs all and 5k life Sin vs Sin
Base Energy

**Note** You MIGHT need to add a little bit of dex depending on your setup if you choose to sorb.

Skill Distribution:

Must Max Skills;

Venom, Light Sentry, Death Sentry, Shock Web (dump rest into charge bolt sentry)

Fade will give 1% DR per skill (hidden bonus). Depending on your gear and equipment setup the level of fade will vary. lvl 30fade= 30% dr, etc... do the math

Put 1pt into: Wake of Fire, Blade shield, shadow master

Some people think that dragon flight is not needed. This is VERY WRONG. Vs average chars you will not need it, but vs pro sins, sorcs and necs, This skill will SAVE YOUR LIFE

Now. There are obviously a few points leftover

- Put them into the last synergy for more trap damage.

FCR/FHR TABLES

45% FCR is the lowest amount of FCR you can get on your wwsin, any lower and you wont be as effective.
62% FCR is the recommend one. Get that if you can.

An assassins 30% FHR is the same as a druids 152% FHR and a necros 155% FHR. Therefore shadow dancers will give you all the fhr you need.

Claw block - This is a 2 frame block.. Same thing as having like 300% Block rate on your char.
*FHR Doesnt affect this if you get hit and blocked it.

Aim for 60% block (NO!!! 59% will not be good enough)

- lvl26 = 60%, lvl31 = 61%, lvl36=62%, lvl42 = 63%

I believe there is a glitch in claw block because each 1% after 60% helps a great deal more than the previous level. In sin vs sin, if both players are well matched who ever blocks more will be the winner.

Switching to Bramble/Fort

If you follow strictly to this guide. Yes, you can switch your armor to a bramble or fort, dusk is the highest you can switch to. If you really want to use this switch, I recommend Fort because it gives fcr/life/physical damage (physical damage > poison because you can only reduce physical damge by 50% and u can reduce poison by 75%)
______________________________________________

Strategies

Amazon:
**Bow: 98% of bowzons will die in 1-2 hits. After you hit them, your openwounds will take their life down quick. Finish them off with mindblast. The better ones (i've only faced 2 zons on east that were "good" - One being Resist (kevinv and the other being ink (blue.ink). I have beat them both, but they are very skilled and a small mistake will get you killed

**Cs Zon: set a trap or two and teleport on top of them to do small whirlwinds. Or run around them and confuse them, tele in ww quick and run away to let openwounds eat them up. Repeat.
If they happen to be a farcast CS Zon, Slap on a tgods and a wisp.Laugh at their damage and rape them.

Barbarian:
**Ww barb: this is hard if they use a sheild, they got the uphil battle.
It is merely impossible to beat if they're good and built right. Try cloaking them and ww at the end of their ww's, while setting traps in a line and mbing them. Sooner or later they'll end up getting mixed up, then repeat.
For Fort barbs, put a widdow maker in stash vs there, and make sure it is HEL'd. Then shoot them, force them to chase you and running into traps and arrows. Rely on your traps to stun, don't forget to mb them once. So swirlie stun is in effect.

**Conc barb: I have yet to lose to a conc barb. Ww away in a zigzag while your traps eat them up. Even if you cant hit them often, they traps will weaken them slowly.

**Zerk: Easier then the above, zerk gives them no defense, giving you a 100% chance to hit depending on their block rate. Duel them like a conc barb with zerk def LOL

Necromancer:
**PNB: This is where your specialty comes in. your claw block makes them so useless. This is where you needed 1pt into Dragon Claw. For most necros, you can tele up and ww them and run away while waiting for openwound to eat them up. If tehy chase you set a few traps (both fire and light to stunlock and ww)
If they spam bonewalls around themselves, set a few fire traps and light traps and Namelock them with dragon claw and tele in to dragon claw them (dont use ww). If they tele away. Repeat.

**Psn Nova: Mb them, as soon as you see them, they never get enough FHR, barely even the good ones do so they'll get stunned, try to MB/Wof them, then they're fucked, if they lower resist you,
If they want to play defensive you can be better at it. Leave your traps randomly on the field and stunlock them if they come close. Rape them when they are locked.

** Summoners/Psn Hybrid: These guys are like retarded. Cloak of shadow blind all their summons so they cant evne hurt u (except with merc). Use traps to stun them and kill merc first. then just stun again and kill the necro himself.

(For necromancers... the only curse that is gm is amp and lower res. If they use summons or curse such as iron maiden or decreficy on you, then you have the right to pull out that sanctuary and slow missle to bm right back)

Sorceress:
**Blizzard: Your claw block gives u a good chance to block their blizzard hitting once, once your on their ass they're fucked. If they blizzard themselves, stay still for a sec. Trap/Mb them outta their own blizz and when they are stunlocked just ww their asses.

**Fireball: You should be able to catch 90% of they guys. Just wear 1 dwarf or inferno boots and chase them down, stunlock and ww.
When they play too defensive they are annoying. Overly defensive play is considered bm in many dueling ladders are well as annoying. If they want to play defensive i'll hotspur them. Do small ww's when you catch them.

**Lightning: No need to change gear, you got stacked lite with the gear above, 1x wisp or a tgod will be fine. Set traps, stunlock, and tri ww them. They die fast...

Paladins:
**Hammerdin: These are a Bitch to get to if they're good synchers. Let them play defensive and set traps all over the floor/mb them, once they're stuned go for a ww or two and run away to repeat.
If they dont get stunned keep MB'ing them till they tele on top of you or until traps eat away their life and they die. There have been times where i have MB kill these if they're too defensive.

**Smiters: You have the ability to Block their attack and merely get stunned from it. Try to set a few light sentries and maybe 1 Wof's to force them to attack you. When they do ww away in a zigzag motion. Mb them, cloak them and hope for the best. Whirlwind AWAY from them. Force them to come to you, by mb'ing them. Then WW away. A pro telesmiter WILL beat a good wwsin.

**Zealot: Unless they are telezeal they are retarded. Set traps, mb them so they attack you and ww zigzag away when they do. If they are tele zealer then set traps and ww away predicting their movements so that they dont get directly on top of you. It takes skill to beat a good telezealer with max block and res.

**Foh: In order to fully negate a FoH pally, on a sin, you need 395% LR. (100 Hell penalty, -150 conviction.-25 scepter, -25 griffons, -10 facets, 85 max res (thundergods) = +395) Stay on their asses, ww and tele ww some more. A few wofs could help with stunning. If they are in midcharge and you tele ww them they will get hurt quite a bit. Worse comes to worse mb them and play like an annoying trapper.

Druids:
**Elemental: LAWL Their your bitch, they can barely get enough FHR for your Wof traps. I have not lost to a single druid ft5 in 4 years (since i made my sins). Stun them and ww. This should be ez if you play smart.

**Melee: read ZEALOT.

Assassins:

**Trapper: A good trapper is hard. Pub trappers take ~15 secs to kill at most. If you fight a good trapper then remember, you have 2 sources of attack while they only have one. Your claw block gives you an advantage. Use 1x togd and you'll be fine, just mb them, and set traps. When they are off guard tele in ww them and set some traps while they try to get away.

**Ghost: Depends on whos the better dueler. They will out ww you but they dont have traps to assist in damage. Basically set traps in a line and ww in that same line so they get hurt as they follow you. DO NOT try to trade wws with them unless they are noobs, you will die 95% of the time.

Bramble/Fort: They dont have teleport. Set traps and play defensive, you should not lost to one of these. When they try to df you, ww away to hit them mid flight and then tele away and set more traps. This should be an EZ duel

Conclusions

The Hybrid Assassin if played correctly is probably the best class for 1v1 gm. They're only weakness is a good barb with tgods and max block. Other than that no other char should be able to defeat you gm (that includes necros and smiters as well).

If anyone has questions or simply wants gm duels please feel free to PM me or whisper me in game: Azn_MastaBui

nice but imo ghosts > this
5.5k trap dmg is just weak, you won't hurt anybody with this

also some other WRONG things in here:
dflight, lol this skills sucks
clawblock is not 2 frames but actually slow (dont know excactly which frame)
even mentioning bramble/fort lol

also a hyb needs more skill points than it can get, i wouldn't waste points on dflight, more clawblock and blade shield

i also use different items on both hyb and ghost, but hey, on eu we have bb

I actually prefer Ghosts over hybrid myself, but ghosts tend to have more problems with barbs, smart mages (hdin/foh) and smart vts
Hybrid sins traps will reduce that problem because no matter how weak it may be, if it actually does damage it will force ur opponent to play offensive vs you which allows u to ww and play defensive to win)

As for dueling style, with 4.2 ww i can duel like a ghost, not a sin who sits behind traps.

If you would care to duel, i'll gladly duel your ghost sin

ghost = anti-caster and will have big disadvance vs barbs, smiters, etc ofc
4.2k ww is ofc nice to have but ghosts have way better stun (20 mb)
5.5k trap dmg is too low, tgods alone will reduce that to almost 0

sure i want to duel, but we play different realms
