Out of those 3 choices which would be the most effective for solo 55-71

Crap, I accidentally choose EE plate, meant chain.
But, I'd say none of the above.

EE Scales or leather are the best tanking armors in the game.
Get that or a dexterity armor.

1. Yes you can
2. Dexterity because you are using a sword, and criticals are key to swords.
You need dexterity to hit criticals, thus you should get a dexterity armor.

2. A dex armor would be ok for solo right?? No ee but more stats which may result in faster killing mos likely

Personally I would try to find an EE armor WITH dex, you have enough FG to get something decent without spending a ton.

Why both? EE to help you tank solo or if you decide to tank catas, and DEX to help reduce the crit damage done to you, as well as raising your weapon crits.

As far as what type, I would probably say chain because it is more balanced than plate and cheaper still (for some reason...)

Someone can probably explain this better, but I would get DEX or EE/DEX, moreso because you are using a sword. (inb4someone says that doesnt matter... shush... more dex = yumm on sword)

Level Req: 55
Physical Defense: 36 to 91
Magical Defense: 0 to 33

+45 Dexterity
+128 Max Life

Work on your Monk first...

EE Plate ... more maximum defense
EE Chain... more minimum defense/more base magical defense

I personally do not agree with Scales when solo'ing... there are more Physical monsters than Magical monsters.
If you come across high dmg'ing monsters in Arena... and weaing EE plate... more than likely they are Magical

Scales for Catacombs...

As for the Dex comments being better because you are using a sword... srry... do not agree fully.
Dexterity gives you the same amount of Critical chance no matter what weapon you use... the difference
is that Sword has higher damage when you successfully get a Critical Strike in... so this is why people
say it is better with sword... at the end of the day... the average damage would be the same if using
an Axe (same stats) with the same amount of Crit strike chances... hopefully that makes sense.

EE Plate / 90 Dexterity minimum
EE Chain / 100 Dexterity minimum

Best output for either Armors... 120 Dexterity

View your Dex when building.
Take into Account what your Dex will be by level 55 (not including items)
Add in any Dexterity items @ level 55
What is the Total?
Do you need More?

Once you have that figured out... you will know what you need.

NOTE: Do some tests with what you have available now before buying anything.
... basically try the 90 dex... then 100 dex... then 120 dex (if you can)

you're going to have all sorts of problems soloing anyway at that level on a melee.

you won't be doing full chains so the best bet would be to get a stat armour to maximize damage. you may kill less monsters at a time but they'll be much faster kills than if you used an ee plate.

just make sure you hit 100dex then stack str out the arse imo.

yeah I know itnwont be full chains but I just wanted a bit more effectiveness at soloing those lvls and wanted to know what ppl thought would be the best armor to use
