Hey I'm an undergrad at College of Charleston for physical education concentrating in exercise science... hope i can help a little
If you're looking to lose weight, they're a couple things you can do depending on how much time you can dedicate to working out. The first thing you need to realize about weight loss it that it has to be a lifestyle change even if it is 15 pounds. I'm not sure what your diet consists of but it definitely plays a factor and you may want to look into that. As far as exercise is concerned, the best way in my opinion to lose weight is to do high intensity training with large muscle groups. Doing high intensity will raise your BMR and increase the amount of calories your burn resting. Doing large muscle group lifting also increases your metabolism because larger muscle groups require more energy to remain active. Depending on your pain tolerance, for a high intensity workout I would suggest doing squats and other full body exercises. The more muscles being used, the higher the amount of energy needed to support them meaning more calories burned. If you have time in the morning, you may also want to do a 45 minute slow jog before eating anything when you wake up and do not eat before you get to bed. Your glycogen system will be depleted when you sleep so that when you work at a low intensity jog, you will be burning primarily fat instead of carbohydrate.
