In a debate with whether or not cardio aids in fat loss.

Obviously I feel that cardio helps you lose weight, especially with HIIT.

So question is, does cardio help you lose weight or is it a sham?

e/ and this debate is with the user Dirtyman. Who says cardio won't help you lose weight at all.

Basically Cardio won't make you lose fat any quicker , than not doing it.

What he's saying:

Burning more calories = fat loss
cardio burns more calories
cardio doesn't help fat loss

I don't see his logic at all.

Lets just say you need 2.5k Calories a day to lose fat.

You dont do cardio , and get 2.5k calories in , you lose fat at a healthy rate.

YOU DO CARDIO , but eat 3k calories and burn 500 during cardio bringing you to 2.5k.

You would burn fat at the EXACT same rate.

However if you ate 2.5k calories on both days , and did cardio on one day going down to 2k calories a day , you would lose weight quicker HOWEVER you would be losing massive amounts of muscle and strength which is not a healthy cut, but the same can be done by just eating 2k calories and not doing cardio would garner same results.

This "doing cardio doesn't do shit all for you" argument is pure bull crap.

The things that are going to help you lose weight are your test levels (among other things similar to that), your metabolism, and your calories in/calories out.

For a lot of people, cardio is going to help keep your test levels up & natural growth hormones, it's going to help you maintain a healthy diet (rather than a lower calorie constricted one), it's going to keep the chemical balance in your body in check, and you're going to end up benefiting greatly from it.

I've tried cutting without cardio, and simply keeping my calories down. Does not work for me, even if I'm lifting hard 5x a week during the cut. I can keep my carb/fat/protein ratios in check, mineral and vitamin intake proper, water intake, all that proper. For me, doing cardio and increasing how much I eat accordingly (same technical calorie deficit) ends up being far more beneficial for me for fat loss. As far as muscle gains go, I can't argue any which way, but I'd argue that cardio is still worth doing (not in excess).

So basically this sentence is wrong?

Cardio is a tool that everyone should use.
