THE CUBE TRICK

I just post that funny discovery for the curious out there who didn't know it was possible.

Steps :
1) Be sure that your char is totally naked.
2) Put one or more item(s) inside your cube (Feel free to test with crap stuff if you don't trust me...).
3) Die while holding the cube on your mouse cursor (Don't recover your corpse.).
4) Equip at least one item (Any crap white will do the job.).
5) Die again (Don't recover your corpse.).
6) Save & exit (Feel free to recover your corpse in a new game.).

At that point, you don't have the cube anymore.
The thing is, everything you have put in it is safe and will be restored once you get a new one =].

What's the point ?
Not much, really...
To my knowledge, it's the only legit way to have stuff in the cube buffer without having the cube item.
It's also the only way to actually have 40+24+12+8 available slots.
If you're paranoid, it can be used as a secret stash, so that if your acc has been hacked, everything in the cube buffer is hidden (until the hacker actually picks up a cube and opens it ofc...).

Lol that's great! I wonder, maybe I could give me friend a go of my account, and I can make mini games where he starts off with shitty loot, and has to go find the cube the progress (ex. He starts with 3 socket weapon, cube has 3 P. Topaz in it and maybe a rare belt and ring)

I like it!
But I need more confirmation before I put the best stuff in the game there.

Try it with a stamina pot =]

The cube is a secondary unique inventory that uses the horadric cube as an access point.

You also don't have to do your complicated steps. Put items in your cube, then drop your cube and leave the game.

You started playing D2 today or what ?
When you drop the cube on the floor, all the stuff that was in it goes to your inventory (or on the floor if you don't have enough space).
That basically means that normally, the cube can only contain items if you actually have it on inv or in stash.
With my method, you can have stuff in it even if you don't have the cube in inv or stash (so that if you pick up a fresh cube and open it, it won't be empty).
Sry to tell, but it looks like a major difference to me.

YOU FAIL

That method doesn't allow you to get past the 1 anni / 1 torch / 1 gheed per character restriction.
The game still checks what's in the cube buffer, even if you don't actually have the cube item.
It must be done in another (hacky) way...
