In 1.09 and early 1.10 everyone used 80. People weren't getting +2 2-3 bh scepters just like that then though, shopbots weren't that common in classic.

30 is too little, there's really no reason to go 30 unless your equipment sucks.

Edit: Just did some quick math

+2 pal +3 bh 0 sojs 11,9k @ 30 fcr/12 frames per cast -> ~24791 dps
+2 pal +3 bh +3 conc 0 sojs 12,9k @ 30 fcr/12 frames per cast -> ~26875 dps
shard 9,7k @ 80 fcr/10 frames per cast -> ~24250 dps

As you can see, you really need a good scepter for it to beat Shard.

i belive we have had a thread all over this subject.

shard is good. its what i use for little bit of mana and resits and of course fcr. 80 fcr works good. but the best is a paladin using a scepter and good gear.

and even though its not feasible for pvm or pvp i would like to know what the highest hammer damage on classic is. ya know with battle command and skill shrine, plus 2 sojs, tarn, silks, +2 shield, and +2 amy.

You need a 2/3/3 10 fcr scepter to beat the 11k shard setup and even then you're barely beating it.
