So this guy has a free game up. Asks me to show my gear to see if I'm noob (which I am ofc). Says it looks like I need free and to make a new game.

We go through a few games, him saying that he needs a new game to reset vendors for the best items.

So finally, we are in the 4th or 5th game and he says: Ok! Here's your free, but I need to kno if I can trust you.

He has me sit in the corner by akara, and exits out the northwest entrance (which is why I think he wanted me to join different games, to get a specific tileset).

He drops all his gear on the ground, then picks it back up. He says that I need to do the same, in order to earn his trust and then he'll give me all those items.

Obvious attempt at a scam, but my question is: How does this one work? Out run me to the items? I noticed his merc was outside of town as well (he ran to the corner where I was).

I r/j, show him another char, and say I really don't need the free, and I think he's a scammer. Host him, he leaves etc.

Honestly, I should have r/j'd with a necro and told him to show me hoto on the ground and Iron golem'd it.

LOL that woulda been hilarious. Maybe there is still a town tele...Pretty sure there is a mod out that bugs you so you can't click anything too...So you couldn't pic up gear.

this method came big when torches came out. torch fro torch when u had to drop trade, host and get merc to kill for free torch =D

When I used to buy torches in-game, and traded torch for torch, usually I had a friend "mediate." Basically, hold my torch, I give the person two hr or something and buy theirs, then they buy my torch from my friend for what I traded.

But god it would be nice if you could hold more than one torch, but only have one have effect.
