Blizz doesn't give a shit about D2 anymore man. They are focused on fixing the mess they made with D3 lol. Though I have just started playing it again after quitting not long after the release once I reached a wall in inferno. I managed to get right up too diablo inferno with my DH by doing alot of corpse running
my problem wasn't with the difficulty of it but more so the lack of any drops! could hardly find a legendary at all and even when you did 99/100 sucked shit anyway.
I have to say they have come a long way in improving it (it is still far from perfect, especially since the little gold dupe incident) but it if far more enjoyable now then it was imo
