Why are threads regarding Diablo II information closed? Is there some negative impact those threads may have on this forum? What would they be, are responses not fast and plentiful enough as it is?

Someone please shed some light on this matter, because from my perspective it seems like there is more than enough help to go around.

Thank you! :)

Questions regarding Diablo II should be asked in the Diablo II Discussions & Guild section ;)

In my opinion, any ingame related questions (character builds, item info, game basics etc.) should be posted in Discussion & Guides section here:
http://forums.d2jsp.org/forum.php?f=21

Anything else, like technical issues (installation, realmdowns etc.) is ok to be placed in GH.

Ricardo and Tomek25, I understand the policy of what is suggested. My question in this thread is asking you to go a little deeper as to why it is done that way. If you could re-read my posts and address the specific questions I've asked I would appreciate it. :)

I see your point too, BUT forum has been divided into specific sections for a reason.. :)
Any topic should be relevant to the area where it is posted.

Actually it's fine to ask basic questions about Diablo II (and basically any other game) here in GH.
I do agree that complex game mechanic questions are better in 'Discussion and Guides', though.

Scott, can you link me to some closed topics that caught your attention enough to post this up?

Just about every single topic made in this forum on the subject of Diablo II is met with the same response. Once in a while I will see someone kind enough to actually answer the question, but if you are telling me the truth that it's fine to ask basic gaming questions here, then the majority of the General Help community is extremely misinformed.

There are no specific threads that caught my attention as it's something that has bothered me for years, because the aim of this forum is customer service, and I see no harm in leaving such threads open.

I see no harm in this either, but question like: "What if I use the socket quest on my MP, how many sockets does my MP gets?" should be posted in the Diablo II Discussion & Guides forum.
I've got almost no knowledge about Diablo II, therefore I can not answer those questions.

There are a few GH helpers who can help with questions like this, but it's better to ask them in the Diablo II Discussion & Guides section.
Because: In that forum there are way more people who have great knowledge of Diablo II who'll be glad to help people out with such a question.

I think everything has been said right here.

The bottom one is backwards. If it involves drivers, sounds and gfx about a game I think they should be posted here. (Complex problems)

That's just my input. Correct me if wrong
