Any way to link pm to email or other audible alert when recieving pm's? Another dumb question..is there a way to search if this question has already been posted?

Nope to the first and you could use google to try and search for a similar question. Iirc a suggestion adding an email notification when receiving a PM was turned down.

However, you can uses jsp Instant messenger to receive live notifications such as when you receive a PM or gold.

As paul said use the instant messenger. click the little wheel on the top left to toggle the settings.
I would disable friends logging in if you only want it for the pm notification as it makes a beep when friends log in at default
