There has been many posts and concerns about this, I've checked into it as much as i can and found out this is a FALSE alert. It seems that only AVG is making this false threat. It's 100% SAFE to keep playing Diablo II!!Make sure to make your Diablo folder a safe exception for your AVG software.Quote
Update your AVG
then go to resident shield / manage exceptions / add path
and add your d2 folder on it
Code
My computer > C: "Drive" > Program Files > Diablo II

If you've already clicked the clean button it has now deleted your Diablo II.EXE file from your hard drive, you can do a quick fix by changing the path of the target in your properties of your D2 shortcut ICON or you may uninstall and reinstall which will be the best but not the quickest. Locate your History tab within the AVG software and restore your D2 file from virus bank, Then make sure to add d2 folder as a exception
Make sure it looks like this if it has deleted your "Diablo II.Exe" If its deleted your "Game.Exe" Make sure it says "Diablo II.Exe" you want the executable file that is not deleted ( you can load something thats not deleted, right? )Code
"C:\Program Files\Diablo II\Game.exe"
If you're reinstalling, im going to assume you know how to uninstall and reinstall. Once your done installing make sure to add your D2 folder to resident shield exceptions, if AVG pops up during the install stage make sure to click IGNORE. Your Diablo II folder is most likely located in..Code
My computer > C: "Drive" > Program Files > Diablo II
