1. Update your WinXP
You can do this thorough turning on Automatic Updates (Start -> Control Panel -> Security Center) or through Microsoft website.

2. Run spyware scans and fix

3. Scan for viruses and fix

4. Defrag
Now this may literally take days to completely defrag your computer (depending on how large your hard drive is and the last time you defragged) using Windows default program. I recommend finding a more efficient program to defrag your computer, if possible.

5. 7. Turn off all useless programs
Your computer has limited resources so to avoid competition, turn off all other useless programs (e.g. Messenger, LimeWire, Bittorrent, etc.). If you had your computer running for extended periods of time, reboot and then try running GunZ.

Hope this helps man, good luck

LOL THIS WILL INCREASE HIS FPS.

high fps = faster computer. why would uw ant to lower your fps? clearly theres something else wrong with your computer. FPS has NOTHING to do with your computer overheating unless its LOW. imo do a virus scan or reformat.

If your Vertical sync is OFF, then turn it on.

Enter the Nvidia Control panel and find the following section and turn it on (if its off)

Use GameBooster and System TuneUp and CCLeaner. They help your computer a lot :D!

Decrease?
You mean increase?
The higher your FPS the faster your computer is processing data.

Run less start up programs.

Start > Run > MSConfig (hit enter or ok) > Startup > Any non vital program you can turn off, do so. You'll want to leave your anti-virus and things on, but there are usually things you dont need on.
Run less programs = More ram free.

^^
Also if you're in diablo 2 the full screen mode caps at 60, run in a window.

Also, since you're on a laptop, you'll want to make sure the fans are working properly. You can purchase a dock/pad for cooling it off.
