After my first attempt failed at the top of Silph Co. after acquiring 4 badges, I have decided to retry my nuzlocke challenge.

Revised rules for this attempt:
[1]If it feints, it is dead and must be released.
[2]Can only capture the first pokemon encountered in each new area.
-If it is feinted or flees, you don't get a pokemon for that area. If it is a pokemon that you currently own, you get to try again.
[3]All must be nicknamed to increase the heartbreak when releasing them.
[4]Can only buy one ball per mart.
[5]The only medicine that can be bought are antidotes. Items that are found are free to be used when ever.

A couple new rules to amp up the difficulty, which should make it a lot of fun.

The Adventure Begins.

I am called "Prodigy", because I have a fire starter. It's name is Zippo and he is a Charmander.
Our first battles went fine and after returning Oak's parcel I caught a Ratata named Saber, short for Saber-Tooth.
Traveling west of Viridian city I once again managed to capture a Mankey. Him I called Saw 2 because whilst he will be good, he will never be as good as the original.
In Viridian Forest my first encounter was a Pikachu which I named Red, in memory of Pikachu's most famous trainer.

If only I had found a Pidgey instead of a Ratata, I would have had a perfect starting team.

A lot of grinding and a bit of luck later, we were facing Brock. When I say we, I mean Saw 2 was facing Brock. And when I say facing, I mean beating.

The gym battle was as far as I could get in the short amount of time that I had, and my current team is:
Level 8 Saber
Level 12 Saw 2
Level 9 Red
Level 13 Zippo.

Onwards we strive, into some difficult early trainer battles. My fingers are crossed that we all make it through.

What have I done!

I tried to let Saber get revenge for his fallen brother from my previous game. I let him take on the damn cool trainers level 14 spearow. Spearow was in the red, one attack away from feinting and granting Saber an ungodly amount of exp, when he got a crazy crit and took out Saber.

Goodnight sweet prince. I loved you much more than your older brother. I had to spend an extra 5 minutes staring at the confirm release screen before I could let you go. You will never be forgotten.

And for now, the journey carries on with 3 companions. Two new areas are coming up soon though. Hopefully I can get something nice.

Arg! And the bad luck continues. At the first new area, just before Mt Moon, I encountered a level 6 Pidgey. My hopes were high thinking I could replace Saber with something I wanted in the first place.

"Just a light tap Zippo. We don't want to hurt it too much. Use Scratch."

Critical hit! Wild Pidgey has feinted.

Fuck you pokemon. Fuck you.
No new pidgey for me.

To reconcile myself I bought a Magikarp. I think I might have to train this one. And Gyarados is a pretty bad mother fucker.

You, sir, are my hero. I may have to try this soon! Are bought pokemon eligible for training and such though? And what's defined as a "new area"? Just the next route or a whole area altogether.

I based it on the space between towns. Though caves and such counted as new areas also.
I'm accepting bought/found pokemon as well. But in future runs I might revise that rule as well.

I do recommend this to everyone. It's a lot of fun if you can put up with the heart break.

However, an update is in need.
I only just made it through Mt Moon.

I was switch training Magikarp and forgot that my other pokemon weren't particularly strong just yet. Got about 3/4 of the way through and all of my pokemon were in the yellow. I decided to take the risk and just carried on through. It paid off and now I am in Cerulean city with all 4 pokemon alive and well.

We'll train a bit more because I know my rival is waiting at the bottom of nugget bridge, and he is one dangerous mother fucker right now. Then I'll be gunning for a new pokemon! Oddish and abra are possible. Same with Pidgey I think.

Not sure what I want more. Hopefully not a Ratata.

Just took care of my rival, Urine S Oak.
With Pikachu it wasn't too bad. Had to use two of my four potions though, so I feel a lot less safe now. Still, all are alive and well so I am happy. I will carry on through nugget bridge and try my luck with a new pokemon.
