I believe GameStop will scan the serial number on the PS3 you purchase from them, so if you are going to do the gamestop trick you need to swap out the shell/casing of your old PS3 with the new Gamestop PS3 and return the broken one which is in the gamestop shell (so it matches serial number) and keep the new one with your old shell.
serial has to match the serial on the receipt.

yeahh I know. back in the day when I used to work at best buy and I had that Playstation RLS I used to buy games from there and return it to walmart for an awesome $65 gift card :lol:

even though I only paid $10 :lol:

I miss working for a retail that I could do RLS again ><
